Re: Hate Generation in EQ2
If I had to make a guess:
- I'd say that the hate list is always sorted.
- You do not move a position above another player unless your hate is at any time greater than theirs.
- You do not move a position below another player unless your hate is at any time lower than theirs.
- Increasing a threat position puts you at equal hate with the player above you, then swaps you with that player.
- Decreasing a threat position puts you at equal hate with the player below you, then swaps you with that player.
- Getting to zero hate by artificial means does not take you off the hate list.
At least, that is what I would find the easiest to code.

Actually, mem-wipes(real ones, like Amnesia, pre-nerf Tinkerer item, termination of Illusory Allies) DO take you to 0 hate and takes you off the hate list completely.

True.. but it seems written in a clear manner, barring exceptions to the "rules".
Now that we got the Threat priority and Hate list straightened out.
What else?

Oh
and the hate list numbers... are NOT right next to eachother all the time.. it is possible for someone to be #2 and have 10 least "ranks" than the MT. I figured that was an important fact to point out (the reason why rescue doesn't always work).

They take you off the hate list; but that's different from hypothetically being on the hate list with zero hate. If you prox pull a mob (assuming it gives less aggro than what happens next) and then immediately use Blink, what happens?

Re: Hate Generation in EQ2
i imagine the aggro table exactly like illuminator described it, it's the most straight forward way to implement it and i don't really see how you would get to your suggestion johnathon, how do you see that you're nr 2 on the hate list use rescue and it doesn't work? it's just an assumption that you actually are nr2, fight a mob with 3 other people don't do any dmg while they do as much as they can, by your example they would increase their threat level heavily and there would be no chance for you to get the mobs back with rescue, i am pretty sure it's not what you'll see happening. also i don't see how the threat level is defined if you have gaps between them.
apart from that none of these aggro table ideas actually tell us how you can be able to draw aggro by spike dmg without already being in the top part of the table, they are all based on total dps and without a massive decay they won't explain spike aggro.

I doubt threat priority is a static cell-based system like occupied and unoccupied bathroom stalls.

imo a mem wipe is completely different b/c will reset the entire encounter, whereas dying and being rezzed does not.

Re: Hate Generation in EQ2
We're only talking about one table. When it's empty, the mob has nothing to kill and goes back to its business.
