Yeah it is pretty much bullshit. Petgroup we started doing that in the LDL forums, every guild name, every archetype in the game.

NPC's in the game are obvious ripoffs of real people or names.

What they were told when they contacted SOE is that SOE stands behind whatever decision a GM makes and won't retract it. Even though they have talked to other GM's who said it was total BS.

Though on the upside, if you don't like your toon name and you petition it enough they will let you change the name. Someone gave me a dirge which I moved to my account and I had everyone in my guild petition the name for various BS reasons and one day I logged in and he had a new name...

First post here, so hi to everyone.

We heard on the various chat channels on LDL that "Pour le me rite" pronounced like god knows how, could be interpreted with "please lay me right" and thus being an offensive sentence to the ears (eyes) of some self proclaimed naming policy cop.

I don't know if it makes sense, 'cause English is not my native language and I have no clue about the multitude of accents pronouncing it, mine is bad enough when I try.

Whichever version is true, it makes me laugh, because RP server or not, people should ease a bit, it's a game and people pick whatever name they think is fun. Ruining someone else fun must be a sport for some people, may they rot in hell forever.

To the poster who asked before: La Cosa Nostra is formally incorrect, just say Cosa Nostra, without La (which is an article and doesn't fit a proper name like that, at least used in that form). It's how is usually referred and if someone complains about the name, start asking them "il pizzo", aka money for "protection" and pretend you're roleplaying

If they don't abide, burn their houses.

Well it also could be related to a certain Erudite Guardian newly returned to the server who just joined their guild.

He has lots of fans.

"Pour le mérite" is pronounced in french "poor - le - meh - reet".
Dunno how they interpreted it to sound like "please lay me right".

I'd love to come over and spend some time with you, but then I'd probably turn into an asshole.

lol at GM's. This is just some asshole like the guy who already posted in here that gets his jollys and makes his little peen all chummy knowing he possibly ruined someones day by getting their toon/guild name changes just cause he can. The fact is you can make up a BS reason and get something changed if u try enough. As an example me and some friends made alts, halfway through leveling them we decided we didnt like the names, so we all went on our mains (on the same accounts) petitoned, finally got a GM, and told him that in our native language their names where a series of curse words. Then the GM asked what our native language was we starting pulling shit from Borat out and making up words and languages and even made up a whole nation (called it Khazakastan or some shit) and the GM believed us, and 'warned' our alts and changed their names....he never even noticed that they where on the same account as the people complaining

If a guild name offends you, turn off guild names.

I absolutely support this guild name change. Look at it this way...the GM's were just saving them some trouble. The name was French, someone was just going to come up, punch them in the face and take it anyway.
