I was just slightly baffled that someone is taking flak for representing a fan forum and whimsically considering how such a circumstance might arise. I certainly do not wish to diminish your pow-wow with SoE. On the contrary, I'm glad someone's out there hashing out the important issues.

How DARE you go and make yourself all likeable and deter further flames.
How *dare* you!
- What you have to realize is that Calthine once helped moderate this site and was considered an "insider". She has since moved on to more lucrative pastures and some folks have bad blood with that, so she's going to get some pot-shots.
However, that doesn't represent the summit or meetings in anyway. It's just a few ass-sore people here taking cheap shots to alleviate thier own feelings of abandonment and so on and so forth..

I previously asked some devs whether they'd use a "Dev Cage" type of forum if I put one up. That would be a forum where questions could be posted, but only devs could post replies.
The uniform response I received was that such a forum was probably not a good idea. The devs prefer to post on an ad hoc basis, and respond to what they feel like responding to, pretty much like the rest of us.

I think the question is would they be willing to sit in an IRC chat moderated and put on by you and Niber or something along those lines. Similar to what zam just did, EXCEPT its questions from here, and no ball gargling.

Re: EQ2 Dev chat log [ 12Jun2007 ]
I wonder about the models. Since the goal is to improve performance, quality and within those the ability to add in gear, are they ditching SOGA as a body type but keeping it as a facial option? I only really noticed the facial differences really(not including the flaws) the few times I used SOGA. If they left it as just face and hair, would the game take a performance hit?

Does LFG have an IRC chat capable of handling hundreds of people? I'd personally love one so we could do them at Ten Ton Hammer. If he doesn't, your question is moot.

If you can get a hold of something able to contain 300 people and be willing to lock them completely down for an hour I'd honestly see if you could get away with it.

We would have to moderate the questions. Questions could be tough, but no way would I be willing to risk subjecting devs to abuse or the inevitable jackass attention seeker blurting crap like "what's the matter with you fucking fuckers" etc.
Niber, see if you can hook up a Java based IRC client.

A java client would be a problem. That would expend more resources than we currently have, however.. setting up a IRC server might* be feasible.

Re: EQ2 Dev chat log [ 12Jun2007 ]
Also, I'd want it to be limited to questions about (1) raiding and/or (2) PVP in EQ2. We'd need to allow both types of questions, since that combination is how > 90% of our user base plays EQ2. Sorry, no questions about fluffy bunnies, tradeskills, new Ratonga fashions, character models, etc.
