It's not just MMOs, it's a serious question that's been considered in all different aspects of life. The whole history of humanity is a dust mote on the timeline of the universe. Should we waste any small part of our short time on idle amusement? Then again, are we really wasting anything important in the grand scheme of things? The bottom line is that you gotta be doin something, and there's always gonna be something else out there that might be better. My answer is just to decide what fulfills you in life and go for it. If you're not sure yet, then keep tryin new stuff until ya find it.
The real problem is when it becomes an excuse not to do things in reality that are more fun or fulfilling but also more emotionally risky, removing you from your comfort zone. I've been there, it's a bad place to be, and it's an easy trap. In the end, no harm can come from taking a break. Ya got until Kunark really before a lot of new content comes out. It's a great time to see if your life would be improved sans MMO.

Well, today I
did get to schedule a job interview while playing EQ2 shortly afterward for a while, so I guess short time lengths of RL and computer stuff will do. I'm not quitting anytime soon though. ;D
And yeah, the whole you're going to die thing - no way can I say that to my mother, she'd freak. The whole stereotype of teenage girls = suicide, you know what I mean? But that makes sense, also, along with the newspaper thing someone else (Illuminator?) mentioned before.
