Sure, if the dice roll in your favor and you win every single roll.
I do the strip mining (harvest every node) and the shiny runs to get plat. I do the level locking and have my lowbie characters do treasured runs. This takes time that I don't have, though.
25 plat in six hours is feasible to you. Not everyone plays like you do, though.

Casual raiding guilds, when people get geared up high enough, look for a raiding guild for perosnal progression. Then the casual guilds are left with gaining new members who aren't geared up, as they should be, for EoF content...so...they go back to KoS raids to help them gear up and the cycle starts all over again.

Actually I lost quite a few people - right after we killed Mayong the first time in a span of 3 days I lost:
-- MT
-- MT Templar
-- Warden
-- Inquisitor
We rebuilt, and were killing shit in a week - this game isn't hard at all. We have brought on recruits from guilds who raided once a week because they had a good mindset (not giving up, wanting to succeed) and they have turned into phenomenal players.
If you want to succeed in this game - then it's a mindset, nothing more. You wipe over and over on an encounter, then you look it over in a parser and try to make changes. You notice X named AE is hitting you every X seconds, and you can't live it - you get people out.....
This game is all about just wanting to kill shit - if you have the drive, it's not hard to succeed.

if by play like me you mean play smart i guess not...harvesting nodes is an utter waste of time for cash...get some guildies together and camp stuff that sells for good plat and split it. your just not spending your time wisely and then are refusing to buy spells when thats the only real thing that matters...if i could choose between doing the claymore or spending time getting masters, masters would deinately trump that.

You were lucky, Meri. Not every guild can recover that quickly. I've been in a few where they didn't, and in fact, had to be come "absorbed" into another guild.

Guildie groups I play in are a NBG and everything else is rolled on. My dice hate me. Always have. And for whatever reason, the master chests and ornate chests just won't drop. Valdoon's, you always get that one ornate at the end and someone usually needs whatever's in it.
Blight is a joke. I've only seen two ornate in there, drop since I've been playing in it.
Some people just have really shitty luck ( You're looking at one of them) I make do with what I can and the only way I've ever been able to make money is by harvesting or shiny hunting. I'm not saying I'll never have a decent size plat amount, but I won't get there as quick as you did.
BTW, your way of playing isn't the only way of playing and anyone who doesn't play like you do isn't "playing dumb".

Wow this sounds like the conversation my guild is having right now... but man we're a stubborn bunch... not quite ready to throw away level 56 guild to join another level 35 guild.
But I also had this thought the other day. No wonder I wasn't making any coin on my previous raiding experiences... the guild we allied with was holding all the trash drops, and the only thing that got rolled on was masters and gear if it was usuable, but hell it was expensive in their system

Re: Test update notes
My first guild in EQ2, absorbed.
My second guild in EQ2, mostly absorbed or went to Vanguard
My third guild in EQ2 (where I'm at now), has an alliance with another guild, also some drama stirring up that might cost a few key raiders to jump ship.
I've been helping a friend out with her guild - since they're really hurting for higher level healers and they're just starting out in the raid scene. Sometimes it just feels like I'll never be able to progress higher than Labs.

Good Guild Leadership and Drive builds good guilds.
Just ask Exill, there is like 4 people left on the roster from when I left and they are still kicking ass. Look at Disso, Ishbu is still holding it together and their still kicking ass as well.

thats your fault for not setting some kind of plat split program. and the whole concept of NBG is just a structured greed system, if you can use it roll on it so that you get it and someone else doesnt. in Disso if there is an item you will use as an upgrade you bid dkp on it no matter where it comes from otherwise it goes to the plat split of whatever people are there, when things in life are free it gets abused which is what NBG is. If you make them start paying for it in one way or another whether it be plat or dkp you will suddenly see people will stop needing things.

Re: Test update notes
oooo... you said the devil letters... DKP. The bane to any casual raiding guild.
You want to see two sides go at it like a bulldog to a porkchop? Mention to a casual raiding guild that a DKP system is about to be initiated. Sit back and watch the fur fly.
