I wonder if Winter got her idea about posting in colored type from Smed:

Their website includes direct links to eq2players.com and some of the SoE PR live feed material.

Actually, no, I don't. But the one I was referring to was 3-4 days consecutive downtime. Not intermittant downtime.

Heh. That's no big thing, *I've* got access to the PR site. But I've seen reports that the initial issue was 2/3 WoW. Ah well, too early to judge.

I remember this .. I was sitting around that night thinking "it might come up soon" until it got into the next day, then I said nevermind.

They did give WoW extra coverage, but overall they seemed to cover every MMO out there. The first page add is for Everquest 2 and the demo disk contains all SOE games. The preview for the Burning Crusade (WoW expansion) got 3 pages, whereas Feydwer got a half page.

I dont mind a little extra coverage for WoW considering they own the lion share of the market. Based soley on the number of subscribers, it seemed Everquest 2 got more then it's share of attention.

I remember that time vaguely and don't think I lost anything but don't really remember. I can actually imagine how that guy felt though in a sense. When I was in college I worked as a programmer for a record company on my breaks. When doing some database conversions I wrote over the database core and wiped it clean (it really wasn't my fault which was why I kept my job). The job ran overnight and when I came in the next morning everyone was sitting around doing nothing and they just stared at me for a bit. Fortunately there were backup tapes but they were 3 days old. So 3 days of work lost (and fortunately only on the test system). But at least I didn't delete anyone's characters!
