SOGA or Default models? - Page 8

Not to mention the fact that the SOGA models have very little in common with anime art, except maybe a few artists who go for a realistic look (like Fujiwara Kamui's Kenrou Densetsu, or the aformentioned Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira).

While the SOGA models are far from truly realistic, it seems like they were at least attempting to go for it a little more than the default models.

When I look at current pop anime, I do actually think they are close to SOGA. As for realistic...yeah, take away the massive chests(make them C-cups at best) and the SOGA models really do come close to real for the audience they were intended for-even the legs.

I think the knock on the default is unfair. The defaults were built long before SOGA without a lot of the tools/experience available to that team and some models like the human females had to be rapidly changed because of the performance issues.SOGA also isn't nearly as varied. I am however, optimistic but wary about the model revamp. Overall I prefer the style of the default-even the hairstyles- but I don't like that we don't all see the same models currently(has led to some awkward chats). Knowing how smart it is to remedy that not only for world continuity but also asset adding, that there are fans of both styles and that time and resources aren't infinite, I'm wondering just how much is going to be sacrificed/lost.

Original all the way. if I swap into SoGa there is simply too much ill fitting clothing and carbon copy models walking around.

I use SOGA on all my models, mainly because the default are ugly as sin.

I like the skin texture and most of the faces on SOGA, but the hairstyles are copied to ALL the females for the most part, so it gets boring. I can't even tell a half-elf from a human from a high elf, because they all look the same!! I've gone back to default, but take the time to design my SOGA to look as I want it as well.

There are things about the default I don't like, mostly the funky dark elf hair, and the "plastic" look of some of the other female hair. If there was a way to blend the fluidness of SOGA hair with the variety of default, I'd be there. I sincerely hope with the skeleton/model changes that everyone will be happy.

And I still do not see any "anime" feel to any of the SOGA models tho alot of people say "its totally anime." I just don't see it, maybe because I'm not that into anime. But they are super skinny and look like dorks when they run (thats the whole reason I went back to default... couldn't STAND my half-elf SOGA run).

I use default except for humans. Humans just loor really bad in default. Well in SOGA they all look the same, but that's still better than that squint....

I had SOGA in my sig for a while, and I still say SOGA all the way. SOGA is better looking all around for a fucking fantasy game created by Sony. I really don't see much comparison between SOGA and Anime, but that's cause I don't give Anime alot of attention.

Answer is simple. SOGA for some and not for others. I use a mix of models, because both styles have some awfully shitty looks. I definitely like dark elves in SOGA though.
