Because you disagree with him. He may follow this post up with a lot of words, but that's the heart of the matter. We've brought this same topic up before without any satisfactory response, and since he's already resorting to name calling instead of discussion I expect more of the same.

Actually, I was rereading some of the first posts he put in here before he was convinced that a minor change should be put in place to make forum mods include an explanation of their edit. The argument seemed to be, "The forum mods can do whatever they want, and if you're trolling it's your own dumb fault." Now the last part of that should apply to the other posters in the thread, but it's the first part that is important. Forum mods can do what they want, and if they want to consider some people's posts "trolling," and give other people the benefit of the doubt that is solely within their discretion. The recourse you have if treated unfairly in the forums is to start a post about it in some other forum.

I may not understand this correctly, and if I'm getting this wrong I'd like to hear how.

Part of the problem LFG may be having is that we aren't really criticizing him. He isn't the Fury moderator, and he can't decide to look through and edit the posts in the Fury forums. Slix already posted his apology, and LFG is satisfied with it. Despite how obvious the hypocrisy seems to everyone else, he's made it clear the only change is going to be asking forum mods not to do that anymore. My post stays edited, the other posts stay up and in tact.

Sadly, I think if you do have moderators deleting posts from everyone they've slapped with the label of idiot some forums are going to see a lot less opinion and discussion. But maybe that's the way they want it. After all, Slix has come in here saying how he doesn't get paid for this, and only does this as a volunteer. It would be much less trouble if they could just silence dissenters with a few key strokes, and forget about it. A silent forum is much easier to moderate, and will let them get back to whatever it is they think is more important.

Why even have moderators? Sure, threads get derailed and people get silly, but does it ever really get bad enough to require regular censorship? Most of the time threads get completely off topic and weird, everything worth saying on topic has been said, and other forums would just close them. Instead, here, when left open, they turn into abstract art.
