I think its wrong to allow the kind of moderating freedom you are giving the class leaders. Sure, keep OOT discussions away, protect the site rules. But to allow them to implement their own rules about what is and isn't allowed makes them and you no better than the general forums. To be fair, the Illusionist population is rather small. At least in terms of who posts on this site. There's myself, you, Calaglin, and Manyak who are either semi-regular or regular posters (I try to keep my nose out of things where they don't belong unless I can clarify something).

That's part of the reason why the Illu channel seems to be rather stagnant.

It is a hard and usually thankless job balancing the competing interests of on topic, class-specific discussions in the class forums while also giving maximum liberty to users regarding the intended free speech format of this site.

Being a Forum Mod, I personally wouldn't ever edit someone's comments just because I didn't agree with them. Mainly because the community would take care of them if they posted something fucking stupid.

I WOULD delete constant spam, or shit that just doesn't belong there - but I wouldn't just edit something. That to me is abuse of power, just because the mod is in NPU, that doesn't mean they are the end all be all for the class - and they can do whatever the fuck they want to the other people posting there.

Fuck I post on a lot of different class forums, and wouldn't expect to have something edited to say something asinine just because the mod didn't agree with me. That is exactly what was done....which is kinda flakey to me.

With that being said - that was all Slix who did it, not anyone else - and thinking that anyone else has influence over the mod is a pretty bold statement. The rest of this post is just Ashmoria's guild mates sticking up for him, which I can see - but in actuality this should have just been a PM....and it is going to turn into a pretty large flameget by the end of it.

I think it is a testament to how well the system actually works that this is the first post I can remember, in any of the "general" sections at least, of a person actually complaining about a class mod abusing their power.

This sounds like an inappropriate use of mod authority and should be treated as a one off situation. I have not seen anything that leads me to believe there needs to be wholsesale changes to the way the class boards are moderated.

I honestly don't agree with being able to edit forums on personal taste other then to prevent spamming, gross misuse/abuse, or pointless threads. I rarely post on other classes myself but I do browse them. Some people have alts, etc, and like to throw things in there. The buddy buddy system where one can post off topic on my thread but another cannot is also really fucking annoying.

Very well stated! The fact that this thread exists and someone is being called out for their "abuse" is a testament to this site. You can bitch all you want about it being nazi-fied or like the other forums but honestly you're just full of shit. This kind of thing would never last 2hrs on the official forums so quit bitching about how this place is like the official forums and instead bitch about the abuse the mod did. God damn some of you are whiney beyond belief and I think you'd only be happy if you lived in Anarchy.

Seriously, you'll get more support for identifying the apparent abuse of the mod rather than trying to say this place is like the offical forums. And go start more forums the more places to troll the better but I would bet my bra this place is doing better and better b/c it has rules for special sections and doesn't allow an all out circle jerk.

You want to claim a Forum Leader is abusing his or her discretion? You haven't done that. Instead, I read you complaining that these forums have become more corrupt than Tijiuana and are now being run by a bunch of Nazis. I don't post nearly as much as I used to, but whatever. I try to steer clear of the drama, except in this case. I don't think the whole forum is turning into TJ or anything that you said, I just think that allowing Slix to do what he did is in poor taste. It was a piss poor judgement on his part, and an abuse of his power purely to insult another player. It didn't add anything to the discussion that was at hand.

I agree 100% that editing someone's post as a forum mod (being as though I am one as well) is pretty fucking weaksauce as well.
