You make it seem like back in the day we did anything different. Did you clear trash in your EQ1 raids? Cuz I know in mine, and in every other top end guild I can ever think of, we exploited the fuck out of every possible loophole we could, be it CoH/dragging+res/eye of zomm pulling, to get to where we wanted - killing named and getting loot.

Lockouts with no save states are one of the things that stunted and killed any real raiding in this game from the start. Top end challenging raiding is not about clearing trash, it is not about waiting out lockouts, losing attempts to unstable servers, etc and if you think it should be please die. If the devs can't make real challenging encounters to hold the top end back, shame on the devs. If you have to rely on saying things like that are what makes it challenging, shame on you.

Content over gimmicks (like new mechanics and frivolous AA abilities) is IMO the way to go, always. Zones that stress purpose and destiny and hold up the bargain, can't go wrong with that ever.

Bonemire had that feeling in the first week when I saw the turrets of the center island and thought, holy shit, I wonder what's in there. I thought and I hoped that it would be 2 or 3 months before finding out. But the suspense was killed when you had to visit that island for the very first raid zone of the expansion. And the 4th and final zone was through an uninteresting portal on some random island. You can't mislead like that.

What I badly wish for though with the combat music is that named/epics etc have tenser themes than that of trash. Sometimes Vent hurts more than it helps when I have to forfeit background music.

Why do you think people play WoW on private servers? It's because there's no goddamn difference, since you can only really play with 19 other people anyway (down from 39, but that's still not really worth mentioning).

EQ1 was ruined more by bad content, and, of course, the deathblow was the release of better designed games. Fuck expansions with raid mobs named xyxyxyxwtia xxxiottplyxa too.

Did I miss the part where they're removing contesteds? I'm not sure what you're complaining about. This is essentially keeping the game the same, but adding a little more convenience. You're a little late on the "I hate instances" bandwagon.
