As a mod aren't you supposed to be about keeping threads on topic? Oh no no I know this one. This is the part where you get in the last word and lock it right?

Sweetie... he was joking. He wasn't attacking you.
* sigh *
So anyway. My only forseeable problem thus far with EoF is that I used to get lost as hell in Gfay...
I'm not forseeing that changing in any way shape or form

After LU13 wen live and wardens complained how they were completely gimped, Lockeye basically came on and said based on his extensive tests that Wardens were fine (his extensive tests comprised of duoing a zerker with 3 diffferent healer types). He then later made significant changes to wardens several times.
While I appreciated his professionalism and that he is willing to make changes shortly after he said none were needed (rangers of course might not feel the same way), it still proves, at least to me, that Lockeye does not really understand how to test.

They know there will be bugs, but you are suggesting the idea that is already there. On the fact of letting whole raid guilds into beta.....Pros, allows them to see what strats they will come up with and enable them to make the mob harder in areas and make the players think more. Cons, guilds can world first the mobs because they have an idea of what SoE will do. In all actuallity it really doesn't matter who world firsts something because it's a video game...if it did matter, SoE wouldn't allow any players to play beta or let devs play the actual game in Hardcore raid guilds.
|
I am well aware of how SOE currently conducts Beta because I have participated and provided feedback and reported countless bugs in every beta (always admittedly on an auxillary account).
My point was that SOE's approach to beta testing is markedly unprofessional and would benefit with significantly more focus and less random participation selection. Hopefully, this would result in less beta testing/encounter tweaking in Live well after the money has left our bank accounts.
You say that, in actuality, world firsts are meaningless. You couldn't be more wrong. SOE spends an enormous amount of resources to make server-firsts of paramount importance. Server messages, eq2player databases, congratulating players on forums just to list a few.
When you test a game in its implementation, you narrow your focus as much as possible. Be it hitting the map key as fast as you can to cause a crash, or trying an encounter over and over, repetition is the cornerstone of any successful Beta.
Beta was supposed to start nearly 2 months ago, as promised. I am sick and tired of playing unfinished content after paying full price for a software release, and sony should feel ashamed for such a low-brow practice in an industry where standards can make or break a company.
It is obvious when SOE releases content before it is fully tested that they are putting things before the consumer. With that said, it's pretty impossible to blame them for that, because for a game to continue to exist there has to be a compromise, and probably unmoveable deadlines from overhead. But I guess those are just inevitable outcomes of a game release which essentially represents a percentage value to a behemoth organization. I recognize and applaud the devs for putting their heart and soul into this game, so don't argue that with me. That is irrelevant to my point.
SOE needs to realize they have 1 month to deliver a product which, without a level increase, must deliver more than anything they have previously released. They need to create and contact focus groups that grind out similar content and provide overwhelming and detailed feedback. This includes soloers from 1-70, this includes crafters (can you remember all the broken weaponsmith combines in t6 after release, all of which were reported by ixnay in beta), small groups, groups, and x2/x4 raids. Raids which focus on ONE zone. ONE mob.
Not everything.

Coyote knows funny! Or something.
As for explaining the insult... that is the entire point, Captain Intelligent. If you were a raider, interested in raiding and reading the threads that pertain to raiding, you wouldn't need an explanation.
Understand?
Like if I made an inside joke referencing a thread in NGD, you probably wouldn't need an explanation right.
Did you see how Meridian and Fumtik got the joke? That is because they are raiders.
...
As for all the weaksauce shit talking about the mod stuff, I'm over it. You need some new material. Maybe Coyote can help you with that after he helps remind me I can't make inside jokes about raiding to a non-raider w/o also including an explanation of the funny.
Radar, you were a cooler guy back before you got your fansite lead, let your ego get to your head and turn into some holier than thou fuckface.
You were funny, you talked about shit you knew (like Templars) and you actually had some sort of chance when you posted in a thread like this.
Now you're just sad. :smileysad:

Esp with the deadlines and compromising.
And I agree that the testing process needs work. Too many people in beta to play and not to test. Too much viewing it as a sneak preview

You know if you hadn't become such as complete pathetic dick over the last 6 months that might have actually moved me. :smiley-happy:
I know since you are an expert on everything and all, it's difficult for you to actually deflate your ego, so this must have been a shining moment for you. I'm sorry you got outted in NGD and people stopped liking you. Maybe if you got down off your pedestal for more than 5 minutes, it wouldn't have been that way. You chose your path. My job has jack shit to do with who I am.
Sorry I'm not "cool" anymore Gaige. If being cool means looking down my nose at people and having a head the size of Jupiter, then I'll go with uncool.
Here is the biggest difference between you and me your holiness. I can admit when I'm wrong. How often do you do it? Does it rhyme with ever? You'll grow up one day though.

Re: I love how SOE picks their beta testers.
Beta for this expansion is much too short imho, their are 7 Tiers of Content, 3 Tradeskill Classes, Raids, Combat Changes and a fuckton of other things to test and POLISH! (key here) and 1.5 months is simply not enough time.
They should honestly push it back a month to Dec 14th.

Re: I love how SOE picks their beta testers.
Khalen, I agree with that assessment. I think beta could use another month at least. But I doubt that will happen, because the devs don't set the deadlines. Marketing and people who probably aren't involved in development do.
And I'm picturing Snark all decked out in BDU's and it's kinda hot.
God I miss raiding

I can't admit to something that has never happened.
...
Okay I kid. At any rate probably the last time I did was right here on this forum when someone linked my enourmously pathetic newb attempt at being cool in T5 when I raided one x2 instance, got one quest and thought I was a raider.
As for ego... generally speaking mine is warranted. Opinions vary, but mine is usually right.
As for being "outted" in NGD, I left on my own. When every post turned away from being funny to talking about Sav's tits or the fact that yes some gamers are females irl and YES they can give head.
That and the whole clique thing of liking and disliking people because Coyote deemed it so got old.
I also matured as a player and as a raider and other shit became more important to me besides my post count.
Etc etc.
But enough about me. Everyone knows how awesome I am, and if they don't think I'm awesome... well I already made a statement about opinions.

Its weird for me to envision Snark at all, because at first I picture him as a ten year old drinking milk while raiding...
but then he makes in-depth posts about nuclear policy.
He is enigma, much like those in that movie, Super Baby Geniuses or whatever.
