SOE adding Vanguard to to it's station pass was a brilliant move and for Vanguard the move was smart in some respects.
I don't know exactly how revenues are going to be split between them but I think it is more correct to say that they don't lose as much revenue as they otherwise would if someone moves from EQ2 to Vanguard. They will almost surely lose revenue compared with maintaining the EQ2 subscriber in the first place.

I was more talking about it this way:
Player is playing EQ2 for 15 bucks a month, Vanguard comes out, player quits EQ2 and starts paying Sigil 15 bucks a month to play Vanguard. SOE loses 15 bucks a month.
Now it could be like this:
Player is playing EQ2 for 15 bucks a month, Vanguard comes out, player upgrades to All Access for 21 bucks and gets both games (and a bunch of others).
Sure not everyone will use All Access, but I think with the addition of Vanguard to the pass its likely a lot will.

Agreed. Say nothing of their ability to release polished content, but their penache for saving their ass is pretty impressive.

This kinda makes me giggle.
I stick to what is presented. You are an egotistical metrosexual who is good at a videogame. (and yes, I admit - you are good and you DO know your game).
So..that's what I make fun of. What else are you looking for Gaige? I mean why do you think that you are ANYTHING else but what I mock? You've never presented yourself as anything but, or given us ANYTHING else to work with.
Don't blame the artist because the model is ugly.
Oh sure, I could take pot shots. I know probably more than you think about your living situation/personal life..yada, and I could get truly rude and insulting and attack you on that level.
But I wouldn't.
Why? Because it's not me. I wouldn't bring your REAL life into an argument over videogames and e-penis points. *Truly* attacking someone isn't my style, so I make the same lame jokes and digs that don't impress you. I apologize, but I can't sink to that level.
But by the same token Son - you brought me here. YOU brought me up, blamed me for the demise of the NGD, and in saying my name you summoned me.
Which also makes me giggle. Because *this* place is your playground. Friends, guildmates and Gaige-groupies out number me a zillion to one, and anything I say no matter how true or relevant has a certain buffer in which you have "back up".
BUT, please remember one little thing in all of this. You've made statements here - repeated statements, postings, and claims and denials here that I can easily and readily prove or disprove, thus thrusting your credibility into the dirt. Sure, there will be cries of "photoshop" and I could go to fraps to show legitimacy, but cries of doctoring and a loyal friend base will save you from any true repercussions.
But that doesn't matter. YOU know what I have. *I* know what I have, and we both know I'd probably never use it - again, out of that respect. And while I'm sure you could shrug it off, explain it away and come out without that much egg on your face...
I know...and you know..and that's all that I need.
You don't want my lame attacks? It's easy son - don't bring me up. Don't lay your petty blamings on me, and don't poke the bear..
Because while I do consider myself a bit honorable - you piss me off enough and I forget that I don't play dirty or personal.
You go yer way, I go mine, and neither of us have to be nasty.
Sound fair prettyeyes?

Fair enough but if Sigil only takes $6 of that $21 then I will change my opinion to the move being moronic. I would say a significant number of new Vanguard subs would be EQ2 subs moving to all access to try Vanguard out compared with those same people paying both companies $15 without the move. And like I said I don't know exactly how the revenues will be split but I am basing my opinion primarily on EQ2 players playing Vanguard (either switching completely or moving to All Access).
If someone already has All Access and gets Vanguard for free, SOE has to lose some revenue out of it but I think they gain more than they lose overall in that respect. But the key is that if Sigil gets too little out of All Access then they are not long for this world. But I am assuming that there are clauses in the contract to protect them, and SOE maintaining their revenue if someone gets All Access when Vanguard is added to the roster would not do that.
If I remember correctly, All Access increased in price pretty much around the tme that the agreement between SOE and Sigil was made. I don't think that was a coincidence and I would expect further changes in pricing if the expected moves one way or another do not meet expectations (either too many or too few). I would also assume that this sort of protection is in the contract such that there are remedies for either side based on which extreme is realized, if any. So no I am not of the opinion that Vanguard will fail financially because of this move, far from it, but that SOE is using Vanguard as a hedge. And that's what makes the move so brilliant on their part as it seems to me that SOE needs Vanguard more than Sigil needs SOE.

I respectfully but strongly disagree with this.
Gaige is my best friend in game, so I'm admitting to that bias.
But it appears to me that there are more people who post here that take a shot at Gaige whenever possible than who will rally to support him after he is attacked.
And Coyote, you have one of the strongest possees rolling on this board, at least it seems that way to me. I'm not sure you've ever been attacked or criticized here without at least two or three other people quickly posting in your defense.
These are my honest opinions based on observation. But if you believe I'm wrong, I'd appreciate if you could link a few examples so I can adjust my way of thinking.
You two going back and forth today has resulted in some of the best and funniest material I've read anywhere in some time. I think both you and Gaige, and everyone who either shares or disagrees with your opinions, makes this a much more fun place for all of us. This board would be boring as hell, and would have died already, but for the strength of such opposite opinions, and I thank you for yours.

Re: I love how SOE picks their beta testers.
I love how some of you assume people posting dont have beta access. Some people could feel they dont like the way beta testers are picked even if they got access or not. Saying you have access to beta however is against the NDA and can get the player and/or this site admin in trouble with SOE. Stop making assumptions!

Sigil has stated before that the way All Access revenue is split is based on time % in game. SoE will also take a flat cut of the plan for using this service (no clue how much).
Just a pretend example here, so first let's pretend that SOE takes a $3 cut of every All Access sub. So if an All Access player spends 75% of his time in VG and 25% in EQ2 then the Sigil team will get $13.5 and the EQ2 team will get $4.5 . So Vanguards success , or failure, will completely depend on how good the game itself is, and being on the All Access plan only opens them up to new customers who wouldn't normally want to swap, but can't argue with the value of 2 MMOs for a nice combined price.

Re: I love how SOE picks their beta testers.
I disagree a bit with your disagreeing.
Yes - you are correct. I do have a bit of my "own" back up here, but it is honestly in no capacity to what Gaige has. He has guildmates, and at times this WHOLE PLACE can be considered a Dissolution run board.
As for more people taking shots at Gaige than backing him up - I disagree. While he does get his shots, he's more people at his side than against it - and while I've people at my side, I've more people against than at.
But it's to be expected - like I said, this isn't my playground, and I understand accept those facts. However, if anyone thinks that I will run away tail tucked because of a few less than kind words...
..well...then you really *don't* know me.
Believe it or not, I hold a great deal of respect for Gaige, and while it doesn't come through here for obvious reasons - its none-the-less true. However, he has this lovely habit of bringing *me* up out of the blue, quoting me, or using me as a springboard for whatever platform he's currently rallying on - and that bugs me.
And when I'm bugged, I let the person doing it know it.
Call me silly like that.

It wouldn't matter if you did. I'm not ashamed of who I am, what I have or the fact that last Tuesday my mom bought me two dvds and brought me nachos from Taco Bell. I *am* 29, in case you forgot, and yes my mom still buys me things. She also lives next door. I also live in a house with my grandpa, who pays for most of my bills. When I work, and its rare, I work for my mom.
Much like my vaunted metrosexuality, its out there because I put it out there. Or in the case of Mel, because I wanted to fuck her and let her come to my house.
Speaing of Mel, if all your leet inside Gaige infoz comes from her, well... she has her own problems.
I can't really think of anyone else off the top of my head who frequents (or used to) the NGD and has been in my house and touched my penis irl.
So that is pretty much the jist of it. In order for any of your pot shots to really matter to me, I'd have to be ashamed of the leet inside infoz you have about my personal life/living situation, which I'm not. If I were, I wouldn't have brought anyone from game to my house, or touched thier vagina on my couch.
So yeah.
