You're right. Console developers get a much harder time of it when the idea of patching is simply impossible. Now if PC game devs would apply even as much professionalism as the console devs I'd be more than content.

what exactly do you think a game is to a company like SOE? granted, to SOE, as a subsidiary of Sony, their game development is not their entire bottom line and while they COULD afford to lose money on it, who the fuck does that kind of thing on purpose? (besides lfg running this site, kudos sir) the games they develope are 'critical to running a business' because if they flop, their business folds.

Seriously have you ever experienced someone who is "hardcore" but still doesn't really understand the detailed mechanics of the game? Its a mindset not just how much you play or if you raid x number of nights a week. Some people are just damn good at execution and don't have to know as much about mechanics while others figure out the best way to counter certain abilities or mechanics challenges.
I'm not real sure whether I'm casual or hardcore, but still you should know better than that generalization. :P
I need to define my terms more precisely. Hardcore does not require one to be a raider. There are plenty of raiders, even those who raid every day, that are WAY more casual than many players who never raid. When I write hardcore, the natural assumption is that i mean raider - which is understandable but largely a misnomer.

And shag, you of all people know what i mean.

But, having read your post, i understand now that it doesnt freaking matter how hardcore or not the beta testers are, we are going to be beta testing well into 2007 as it is.

I think it's a product and based on the trends of other games it treats testing with the same seriousness. Would you comopare a company that makes snack foods to one that makes MRE's for troops in Iraq?

A bug in an operating system can cost companies millions, while a bug in EQ2 might cost them thousands. It's apples to oranges.

If you believe I'm condoning bugs, you aren't reading me right at all. I'm just saying you are apparently living in budget free mindset. You also don't define flop. If Tarinax is bugged (*wave* Pinksi) for example, I don't consider that a flopped expansion. I consider it something that needs to be fixed ASAP, but that's only a single aspect of the expansion. If people keep paying for it, it's not a flop.

Lol...you're cute but Typhoon hasn't released it yet. I'm sure they've got a bug that lets people be naked or something else they aren't done with.
