Perhaps it would be better to say that you wish that people that play like muppetts were not in beta testing raid et al content. Just because im a casual player does not mean that im not getting over 2k in the parse (toka = necro) and dont understand group mechanics.

All the information that you need to consider for any encounter is in your effects windows, your spell list and your combat spam. Id like to think that I am just as capable of looking at the information and arriving at the correct decision as a contested raiding (hardcore raiding?) toon :smiley-wink:
If you read on in the thread, actually on the previous page, you will see that i clarified that post.

I am sorry if you took it personally.

Ok I shouldn't have said you weren't contributing, but since the care bears and my little pony debate, I had tuned this thread out, and then I saw your post and I got grumpy. I didn't see who was participating in that particular derail, just that it was happening, and I admit to assuming that you had participated in it.

I'm not about to apologize for getting side tracked for 2 or 3 posts when the rest of the time I've had something to say that completely pertains.

I've seen side bar conversations all over these boards that weren't whined about as derails.

The thread hasn't been derailed at all, because we're all still talking about testing and what we feel needs to be done.

Unfortunately, currently it is what it is. We don't have control over this. There's probably a hard and fast release date, that will NOT be pushed back, much as it probably should be.

It'll go out when it goes out, thoroughly tested or no, and there will be hot fixes and patches and all the rest.

In the end, I love the game enough to go through all of this. I put up with it in EQ1 and I'll put up with it in EQ2 because I love the game. I'll keep expressing my opinions about things and working for change, but until I'm the CEO, I know that it isn't up to me.

Some of us have more idea than others as to how much and what kind of testing has been done.:smiley-wink:

With that said, just look at their track record from Lu13.

We're not talking "bugs" we're talking fundamental balance changes and polish, theirs nothing buggy about classes having shittastic AA's or them entirely fubaring the mitigation and resist system, that's not buggy work, it's unfinished work that is pushed to release.

John Smedely has all the power in the world to push back the release date, and claiming "oh sorry, pre-orders are in too bad so sad" is a lame excuse to push unfinished unbalanced content live.

I'm assuming that the reason they don't push back release dates has something to do with industry release races?

I honestly don't understand this myself, even though I can speculate. But I'd appreciate some enlightenment on why they can't just say, forget this, we're giving it another month.

It'd satisfy a huge portion of the playerbase, wouldn't it?

Well, they can't because lots of interesting games are coming out this month and next month. Console releases are also fast approaching.

The competition out there is thick. You guys know why you don't play anything else, but the bean counters that don't game have no idea how much they can afford to delay. I would like to see them delay until January (only because it fits my gaming schedule better.)

Seriously.
Ok man, fair enough, I get drawn into it myself a bit also, but I hear you.

Many software companies with pre-order policies have pushed back software releases to ensure a higher quality product reaches market. Precedent is already set and those products have not bombed because of the delays.

It's purely a marketing decision on SoE's part and over time it's been commented on in a number of places. I hate WoW vs EQ2 comparisons but when comparing Blizz versus SoE there really is no competition.

Pro.

Console Games + Normal PC Games get delayed ALL the time (Duke Nukem Forever anybody?) because unlike MMO's it's much harder to "patch in fixes" to unfinished unbalanced. Not to say they don't release with some bugs and imbalances, but not nearly to the extent of MMO's. Seriously I think in Between FFX and FFX-2 I think I found MAYBE half a dozen "bugs" that could be considered "real bugs". Not to say Square is absolved of all guilt, it's like as soon as they made FFXI they decided it was ok to release unfinish/bugged content because it was an MMO.

The Entire MMO industry (Barring a few good ones) has adopted this mentality that it's OK to Release Unfinished Products then just patch in the rest later. It's an attitude that hurts the consumer and frankly needs to stop.

Yes, yes I probably do have a better idea. :smiley-wink:

I don't see the logic in comparing LU13 to an expansion. Were you anticipating LU13 going "OMG I can't wait until they nerf all the classes!!!11?"

John Smedley has bosses too, and you and I both know what is riding on this. EQ2 is SOE's crown jewel until Vanguard comes out. With daily bitching about level caps not going up and lack of content, the game is in dire need of a content injection.

You are right, they very well could push back the release date, but it would based on the actual beta testers, not a bunch of us sitting around complaining about it. I can admit when I'm wrong, and I already stated I want this expansion fully tested, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet on this being released on the 14th.
