LU13 debuted with DoF. While DoF had nothing to do with LU13, the review of DoF was tainted by the mistakes of LU13.
This combat change has nothing to do with EoF, but if it goes live on the same day, people are going to judge EoF by it - like it or not.
There's no logic, just the way user review happens.

Wasn't LU13 released in conjunction with the first expansion?
I did the digital DL and got both at the same time, from what I recall.
Edit: Korina's dazzing digits defy description. She beat me to it.

John Smedley has bosses too, and you and I both know what is riding on this. EQ2 is SOE's crown jewel until Vanguard comes out. With daily bitching about level caps not going up and lack of content, the game is in dire need of a content injection.

The Combat Changes going live may not have the scope or breadth of Lu13, but they are still significant.

You are right, they very well could push back the release date, but it would based on the actual beta testers, not a bunch of us sitting around complaining about it.
|
Seriously wtf kind of comment is that, the whole point of this message board IS to sit around and complain about it AND to discuss it. Just because the release date is set in stone, doesn't mean we can't discuss it.
And if you seriously thing the "beta" testers are going to risk their future beta access and favour with soe to "call them out" and complain about the release date, then your more delusional than I thought. The Majority of beta testers are probably so scared to call out soe (due to their heavy handed censorship and ivory tower mentality of "if you dont like it, we wont get you into beta next time") on their lack of a finished expansion they will stay silent.

That's a fair statement that I can't argue with at all. I've never seen the logic in releasing huge combat changes like that with an expansion. Usually ends up earning people free play time.

Re: I love how SOE picks their beta testers.
I honestly believe that they bundle the combat changes with the expansions to keep people distracted long enough that if the combat revamp is incredibly unsuccessful, the number of subscribers does not plummet.
This could be because of the new players attracted by the expansions or because the expansion is so compelling that people don't mind their poorly designed combat system.

I'm not arguing the combat changes are significant because they are especially for all of us sitting at the level cap (and in your case probably the stat, mit, and resist caps).
And feel free to complain. I'm far from saying you shouldn't, I just don't understand what the point is. *shrug*
If the beta testers won't speak up about releaes date concerns, then in my mind they got nothing to say about it. If they want to selfishly put themselves above the greater good of a better released game, then they've made their choice about what is important.
Concerns about the release date can be brought up in a constructive way without torquing off SOE, just aren't many people willing to do it.

Do you have more examples? It seems a little unfair to base the entire SOE Dev teams attitude on one post.

I honestly don't understand this myself, even though I can speculate. But I'd appreciate some enlightenment on why they can't just say, forget this, we're giving it another month.
It'd satisfy a huge portion of the playerbase, wouldn't it?
|
The issue is manufacturing. When you reserve a slot for disk and print manufacturing around this time of year you have to stick to it or you don't make Christmas. Every game company, movie company, and music company on the planet has to schedule in manufacturing times to make shelf dates in time for christmas.
Pushing back even one month means, they don't get made at all this year. The slots get filled and there are no more until next year.

For example #2, I'd point to Khalan's own banning. :smiley-surprised:
Sorry, I still feel strongly about that.
