Ok, i am testing out several different options for DPS gear.

There are items that proc on:

Spells
Melee
Attack

My question is... for items that say on a successful attack does that mean both Spells and Melee? If its only Melee, why doesnt it just say Melee... im just trying to get clarification on this.

Anyone know?

For something to proc on both spell attacks and weapon attacks, it has to say "on any successful attack".

Items that say "on a succesful attack" can mean ranged or melee. It's very very vague here, which is why they can't just say melee in some cases.

also they should add that procs on melee weapons arent susposed to proc off ranged and vice versa. that one had me really pissed after i finally got my membranous spine sheath =/

Sony's list is absolute bullshit.

Best way to figure out is to test it or have a friend who has the item to test it.

Bolded and highlighted the important part, just because something says "On a Successful Attack" or "On any Successful attack" does NOT mean that it actually procs on a successful attack. And that is why the entire proc system needs to be looked into and descriptions changed so that items actually proc how they are worded to.

ANY successful attack is any spell, combat art, auto attack. Successful attack is any combat art, melee auto-attack (sometimes range auto attack)

Berserker's Berserk proc is any successful attack, for example..

Not true, go ask any Ranger out there about that because those two wordings do not proc on a ranged CA or auto attack.

DOES proc off of ranged, and it is on successful attack. Like I said, it is one of the FEW items that does proc off ranged. I didn't say everything procs off of ranged, no.. in fact, from what I've heard they're completely butchering that weapon for rangers next LU.
