Dumpster Diving
This is one of the things I miss from EQ. For those not familiar, whenever anyone sold anything to a merchant it would sit there, ready to be bought back by any player who came along. I remember buying rusty weapons to skill up blacksmithing, looking for the elusive spiderling silk near newbie zones, gnoll teeth to turn in for quest exp, etc... I think they reset completely on a server reset.
I had forgotten about it till I saw in the dev tracker here, 5 or so devs commenting on buyback. Can't see the official forums to know the context, but it made me wonder if they are putting in buyback for an individual or for everyone.
If it were only stuff you had sold them it would probably just be a great thing to have, and remove a lot of Customer service tickets.
It could be huge/disasterous/controversial if implemented for all player sold stuff to be available, would have to exclude no-trade items.
What if anything, would be on there, how much would people hate it if shineys, lore and legends drops, etc were to be there. There are still probably people who sell treasured gear to the vendor, for transmuting... Or would it just be full of the uncommon drops and curiosity treasures.
Could imagine people blowing up if player crafted stuff was there, given the amount of junk made for levelling purposes.. Would that stop people from selling below cost? If others could just pick the items up from the trash...
I could see it being both a fun aspect of the game and really turning the economy on its head. If they are planning something I would guess it would be per character only.
