Default The Arena: What should be done with it?

Inspired by a post in the official forums, I was in my first 6v6 Arena Champions match in a loooong time the other night. And it was actually pretty damn fun! I got around to thinking, should they fix up the Arena?

For my two cents, I think they ought to do everything up to balance issues at the minimum: make arena matches go by PvP rules, add in a working option to automentor with player characters, add in options to take out health/power potions. I think 24v24 in large arenas would be fantastic -- just cut chunks out of Kunark, KoS, even the Old World that aren't tiny little mini-islands. Hell, Sanctum sorta looks like an enlarged DM map, and we know for sure they can copy and paste that :P

My thinking is that if they spruce up the Arena and add a bunch of entrances around congregation points in Kunark, we'll see it get use in RoK. If you let people have access to the interface (like LFG tool and stuff) while they're in there, I can see people just screwing around inside while they're LFG at least. If they patch some Kunark maps in even before RoK launches as a teaser, it will generate interest in both the Arena and the expansion. PvP test showed us that there is interest in more instant DM kind of action outside of the normal PvP grind-to-70 servers.

But that's just me. What does everyone else think, and how should they fix it up? Are there any plans to work on this in the future from the dev perspective?

If they made it inter-server, how would they handle character name resolution? Charactername.servername?

Yeah moving from EQ2 to WoW, I have to admit that the Battlegrounds and Arena options in WoW really add a lot of fun to the game. When normal instances and raid content is done and done and done...You can at least go play some PVP content and enjoy rewards for the time invested in that facet of the game...But then again SoE would have to fix how broken the arena is and honestly, is that going to happen?
