New forum look, advertising, and you!

Hello everyone:

As you may have noticed, we have an entirely new forum look, and that includes ad banners.

Some people like ads, others hate them. They aren't quite working perfectly on this site yet, I'm looking to find an alternative advertising solution to Adbrite, since I've basically approved every non-plat seller ad they've shown me, yet they are still not fully populating our ad space. I can't figure that out, so am going with additional advertisers also, but those will take up to a week to set up. I will not run Google Adsense because I hate them and they don't give me the option to screen ads in advance to eliminate plat sellers.

There are two ways you can turn off ads on this site for a lifetime. Those two ways are:

1. Donating a minumum of $10 bucks through the "Donate" link in the link bar at the top of the page, then send me a PM and say "turn my damn ads off." Before you accuse me of selling out to The Man (tm) and call me a greedy money grubbing corporate pig, please realize I will in fact spend up to $5000 on this site this year, and am just trying to not lose money here while increasing the fun, stuff and contests we have on this site, and all that costs money.

2. Ads are turned off FREE OF CHARGE for SoE people and Class Leaders (because they are in fact contributors by what they do here and this is the only way I really have to show the EQ2Flames <3 to them).

BUT, SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE LOOKING AT THE ADS, and I definitely don't want to deprive the site of ad revenue for people who want to look at and click on ads, so IF YOU FALL INTO THE FREE CATEGORY AND WANT YOUR ADS OFF, SEND ME A PM AND I'LL GLADLY HOOK YOU UP.

Ody, our PhP coding superstar, is looking to design a toggle check box in the user profile for those who qualify for the "no ad" usergroup, and those people will be able to turn off or turn on ads whenever they want. But quality takes time, and that new feature will take a few weeks to program and implement.

Again, please nobody freak out, if you qualify for ad free viewing and want that, just send me a PM in the meantime and I'll do it right away.

BTW, the "no ads" version of this site completely eliminates the left site panel and the top ad banner, and I must say this new skin design is outstanding and a joy to behold without those things turned on.

The choice is yours - pay ten bucks once (unless you qualify for free as described above, and then just send me a PM until we can make it so you control your own destiny), or sit back, enjoy the show, and click the hell out of our ads to help raise money for this site.

LFG, I can respect the change and the donation. I like the new look, but I do hate adds. I'll gladly throw $10 your way to clear them and contribute. If I do that, can you hook me up with a custom title? ;)

Yes, request your title at by copying the HTML code as indicated in the post stickied in the Hall of Flames section, and PM that request to me.
