Free DKP Hosting on EQ2Flames - Page 3

So let me get this straight.

The idea here is to keep the adds that everyone is forced to look at (sans 10$, of course), whereas there is an offer for *free* DKP and guildhosting. Guilds would scramble at the chance to have their hosting on EQ2flames, at a cheaper price than the rest of the hosting services.

But as it stands -- you're complaining about a lack of money, and how much bandwidth is being used daily, and yet you're providing yet another FREE service?

Now this is an idea I can get behind, LFG. phpBB is alright, however, simple machines forum is another great one that may merit a look or two.

Get this straight you fucking retard. We had no plans on paying for you to use this site indefinitely. Regardless of the costs of maintenance.

Bandwidth was never the issue. It was CPU/RAM. Now, apparently you're unfamiliar with how hosting works so let me explain this to you.

You can have a shared hosting plan where you'll likely have 50 people on the same machine, a virtual shared where you'll have 5-10 people, or a full collocation where you'll be alone. Option A and B did not work due to the database strain. So we were forced to move to option C. Now, option C is so far ahead of option B that it allows us not only room to grow but the ability to offer free services.

May as well allow guilds to do a full blown web hosting.

They get 1 admin account per guild for ftp for uploading web pages and managing backend. Once logged in there will be a directory for the forums of choice and dkp and a starter index.html and a set amount of space for pictures/etc..

Address would be: www.eq2flames.com/servername/guildname

Would also be an easy way to compile a list of guilds per server and view their website. A perfect start to developing a true eq2 community.

LOL at this rate, by the time that RoK comes out, EQ2Players will no longer be needed, and SOE can spend more money and time to development of the game.
