I played both and got the email. I quit eq2 in January and VG about 2 months ago. After I go the email, I checked my eq2 characters and they were still there (how long do they stay? I thought 6 months they would be gone).

Unfortunately pretty much my entire guild in eq2 is gone and my interface is fucked (new computer).

So i'm going to play my free time until September.

If you really are dead set against believing people got so much free time, check my post history. You can see when I quit.

It's legit; I didn't get an email but I know a few friends who did and who logged into to EQ2 over the weekend :D

I think it may be limited to people who played VG recently.

I think they stay for ever. My eq1 toons are still there and I dont pay for eq1 anymore.

My EQ1 launch characters and Stromm launch characters are still around, that's at least a couple of years on each.

I'm curious what the plan is though, they thinking VG is just beyond salvaging or are they trying to distract them with EQ2 until the "relaunch"?

Might be for both reasons. At least they do some sort of advertising for eq2 now. I don't mind them trying to bring old players back.

Yeah, thinking about it a lot of the people that I ran into in VG were jaded EQ2 launch players mumbling crazy-like about "too easy" and "lost the vision" and stuff. Three months might be enough to convince them to look past fast travel and boohooing about easymode to enjoy the game that is there.

Plus the VG players that stuck it out do deserve some compensation for the shit they've played besides more months of shit, and if they're going to go to another game, might as well be in the SoE stable right? :P

My guess is this is for people who played VG, but haven't subscribed to EQ2 or station access since before VG came out.

Adding more players to the population is always good, though I don't know how effective this will be as VG players may be leerious about other SOE games. Though it is free, so you never know.

I'm a little butthurt that I didn't get one. I want to lure someone else in. If I could get them in for 3 months, that would rock! This 7 day BS isn't going to cut it to get someone thoroughly hooked.
