This whole thing makes me chuckle a bit as I conjured up this image.....somewhere deep in the bowels of SOE Brad is being forced to type this email to everone that got suckered into buying that heap of steaming donkey shit.

But here is a thought that crossed my mind (I have to assume I'm right about this but I haven't played VG since about 15 days after if came out so I don't know what the game is like now), is VG so far down the tubes that what few people do remain in game SOE is trying to temp them into joining another SOE game (and therefore keeping those revenue dollars) so they can just shut the door on VG and put it out of its misery?

I actually enjoyed playing VG and got my toon to level 40 as I recall. I only quit because all my friends did, and because I was pissed off about losing some items to game problems and not getting them reimbursed.

I have to say I think it shortsighted of SoE to ONLY extend this offer to people who've cancelled BOTH their EQ2 and VG accounts. I dropped my 3 accounts down to EQ2 only from all-access when I quit VG.

I'm mystified as to why they wouldn't extend this offer to all former and current VG players. Sure that would cost a few bucks, but I think it would be the shot in the arm that game needs. Honestly also, based on how much people feel like they got screwed by VG because of misrepresentations about the playability of that game, I kind of feel like SoE owes that to the players, even though SoE is actually the good guy in this situation for bailing out VG, it's Brad that's responsible for this mess.

No way am I going to pay new license fees to play VG again now, but if I got a free offer, I might at least log in and check it out again to see how much the game has improved since I last played. If the game has improved a ton, that might actually motivate me to pay for a subscription again once my free time ran out.

That's the problem, it hasn't. They're waiting until they have a better product before they launch VG incentives. They do not want to encourage people to play VG yet, especially right before these tumultuous server merges. Resubscribing now = high potential for lost customer.

What happened between the last time I logged into VG a month ago and today is precisely nothing. The servers are ghost towns. There are still premier dungeon questlines that are borked to hell, there is still lots of duping and exploiting going on. I imagine they're working mostly on boring backend merger details.

My guess is that they're going to push EQ2 up through RoK -- note that the end of the three month trial period dovetails pretty nicely with the launch of the new expansion. Meanwhile, they're going to keep doing all the boring bugfixes and optimizations in VG. They're going to implement their one raid dungeon and tweak abilities and classes around until they're where they want them.

Three or four months into RoK, people have tried out most of the stuff in EQ2, we'll see their relaunch of VG. If it's successful it will be one of their flagship games alongside EQ2. If it continues to tank it will go on life support.

You know i dont even care if i get a refund for buying the game and all that give me a unique house item or something or upgrade my lucanic weapon to a soulfire or give me something like a vet reward lol anything even an email apoligizing for how bad it sucked would work for me.
