Only got one last night, and it was marked as spam.

Dunno if e-mails are being filtered at all, but I had a plat spammer send me 1cp with a spam mail today. Thought that was pretty clever as if you did have a spam rule on e-mail it'd probably get bypassed if a money transaction was involved hehe. Or maybe it just gums up the system with more false reports of people taking funny money from plat sellers.

I find the spam filter is reasonably accurate.

I haven't seen any legitimate messages incorrectly flagged as spam and while the filter doesn't catch all the spam, it clearly catches most of it. Other than when someone finds an anomalous message and repeats it everywhere in an atttempt to show how horrible the spam filter is.

The primary obstacle for the devs will be to improve accuracy to the point that we can disable the spam notices because until they do, we're still getting "spammed".

Our next objective is to prevent spammers from entering the game entirely. Spammers have an extremely high fraud rate (stolen credit cards), so we don't want them even signing up.

BTW, that is an EXCELLENT reason not to buy plat, these guys are quite simply: crooks. Giving them your credit card number is probably a huge mistake.

Awww, but think of all those wonderful conspiracy theories you'll be obliterating if you do that! The poor, paranoid SOE-haters will have to come up with even more far-fetched scenarios of collusion between SOE and the spammers/farmers.

I actually had some guy in the 60s chan the other day saying the spam filter was proof SOE approves of spamming because a) it doesn't work perfectly and b) it gives you the choice to view the spam if you want to. His reasoning was that SOE has the means to stop spam entirely and since they haven't, they obviously condone it. To his credit, he did change his mind after we explained how reality works.

I still find it interesting though that the spam filters will get a lot of the plat spammers but NONE for the www gmworker com website spammers. Just about every one that goes through is for that website.

and I've been double checking asI'm home today and online and none of the current ones being blocked are from that particular site.

Edit: Just got one where they didnt spell thier website out properly. it had gmworker.{om and that got blocked. Though the other ones that ARE spelled out no spaces just as you would enter it into the webpage ARE NOT blocked. /ponder
