Re: Seeking ideas to make people less upset about the ads
This is worse than the very worst porn / warez site I've ever seen - I'm running three different cleaning programs, and getting over 5000 malicious files downloaded since this morning.
Jesus Christ, I hope Niber can delete this shit asap, I don't know how to myself.

Re: Seeking ideas to make people less upset about the ads
Jesus people I'm really really sorry, Niber is deleting the ad code from our site right now, I'll try another advertiser later tonight.
We can't allow the current one to continue for another minute.
I'm shocked, the one that allowed all this bullshit to slip through with it's ads is ADXDirect, one of the leading ad companies on the Internet.
I've never seen anything like this, had to uninstall firefox and reset IE back to manufacturer specs - I'm not sure if I need to wipe and reinstall my harddrive, even AVG isn't getting rid of this shit.

*chuckles* I just have to have a bit of a laugh and be glad I'm ad-free on this site (Belly up to the $10 and you won't have these problems). Ad companies are SO sketchy. Some out there, I'm sure, are clean and don't try anything fishy (Google's AdSense). But it seems a VAST majority of them are jsut pure malware. OR they just don't implement any controls on the advertisements they provide and allow anything without reguard for any illegal stuff it does. Maybe I'll start up an advertisement site geared towards gamer sites.... Atleast then I'd be able to show that being a 'good ad provider' is possible. DEATH TO SUBVERSIVE ADVERTISING!
P.S. Since most people don't seem to know this 'add' is a mathmatical term or a slang for additional monsters coming in the middle of a fight. I believe what we are discussing here is none other than 'ad' which is a shortened form of advertisement...

What is AVG anyways? TBH, I don't do the best job protecting my computer at home. Never really cared since I ever use it for is to play EQ and go to my guilds homepage and this site. So I never really cared, now I'm worried I have shit all over the place.

I think LFG just got unlucky or something. I never got malware.. although I was spammed a few times with full page ads.

This is what I just got, and it wasn't the first time:
Downloader.MisleadApp - Symantec.com
If you click the "Technical Details" tab, I had that "Warning, Security report" popup yesterday.

Run a spyware tool and check your "bad" file count, between three apps mine was over 5000 files since this morning, it's never ever been above 300 before. I didn't have the time to review them all.

Re: Seeking ideas to make people less upset about the ads
Ok, the ad code is removed, there is no possiblity of this reoccuring.
To remove all this bullshit from my comp, I had to:
-uninstall Firefox
-reinstall IE 7
-Run the MS malicious software tool
-Update IE 7 from Windows Update
-Run AVG + 2 other virus/malware apps - got over 5k bad files total
-reinstall Firefox
Got rid of it all, now running normally.
Again, we've removed that advertisers ad code. In the future, I'm pursuing a zero tolerance policy with this shit. Any malware downloaded = that advertiser is gone.
