Default Re: Account Sharing

I've played many, many other accounts that were not my own. Raids are the primary reason, but others for smaller reasons, like wanting to finish a quest and couldn't stay up. I would never require someone to share their account, but account sharing is very useful if you are going on vacation or know you're going to be at work, and you miss some quest mob every single time.

I can certainly understand your reasons for keeping you as you, but many people don't have such high standards for keeping their online identity so solidified. Even then, I feel that it's easy to explain, "Oh, this isn't the real <Name>, they will be back tomorrow." Often the people I borrow warn friends in advance if they are concerned about it. "Oh, Revel will be playing me tonight." On the other hand, it's nice that if someone messages you, they know it's always you. Which is generally how my main is, because I'm on so often

Most of the time, I never get a tell, though. Although I get more tells on other characters than I do on my main. Yeah, so what I'm antisocial. :smiley-tongue:

My old guild does this all the time but usually only for the classes that were really needed for specific fights. I would not have given my info out even to the leader or officer. Not because I didn't trust but because it is against the EULA. Okay, that's not really why I don't trust anyone!

A keyboard filter can nullify any sense of security you get by retaining your password. Which is why I forbid anyone to lay a finger on my computer, not just my account.

I've raided on a paladin, mystic, fury, and warlock before, yet my only level seventy was a troub. Made raiding in a small guild a lot easier if key players were offline.

I do not like playing accounts or toons other than my own.

I especially do not like logging onto a girl toon.

Makes me feel like I'm going through someone's underwear drawer, or wearing girl's clothes or something.

Just can't do it lol.

Been in the same 'guild' / group of friends for years, I really don't see the issue. Alleviates a lot of stress if a key person needs to log or is going to be out for some reason.

I kinda worry about the people that are worried a spouse or close friend is going to screw them over at first opportunity, that kinda paranoia can't be healthy!

Did you just use key players, Paladin, and Warlock in the same sentence? Wow.

I've played a lot of borrowed characters at one time or another, generally half-ass.

My favorite story was when I had Feltrak's account information and I decided late one night that it would be fun to create a "Shard Scavenger Hunt". I dropped all his +STR gear off at the bank, grabbed all his boxes, burned his call of Qeynos and scattered his shards throughout the Shattered Lands. It took hours getting him to the bottom of Varsoons and SolEye fully burdened, but in the end I think it was worth it.

Feltrak however, didn't see the humor, I havn't been allowed on his account since. :smileysad:

Oh, and that time I changed Krohm's last name to Fanook -- but I think he likes the attention that gives him.

Still remember in my former guild having one of the guild leaders logged in by another of the guild leaders and having his last name changed to something rather fruity. We had a long discussion in vent over what the name should be. I can't even remember what it ended up being, but man that was a fun week.

My brother has my info and i have his. Its just a game. There's been times when my brother logged into my acct to get something off my char and one of my officers asked me why I didnt acknowledge them, but I let them know that if I dont answer their tells or comment in chat its becuz its not me...its him. So they dont feel like I was ignoring them...lol. Other than that, I dont care one way or another. He plays EQ and SWG now and I play EQ2 and WoW. So the few times he plays, if he needs my account info for some reason I really dont mind.

I wouldnt of course give it to anyboy I met online...that's just ludicris. Not even my cousin has it. Though he may have my brother's.
