Account Sharing
Common among raiding guilds, close friendships, and households is the practice of account sharing.
I just can't do it.
While it certainly has its advantages, quest updates while slumbering, needed class being used in a raid, getting a little experience boost...
My husband has me log in and play his character all the time. I did it far more when he played EQ1. "Hey, I've got to run to the store. Sit here and play my monk. If anything drops that I can use, roll on it." @_@
Nope. Not me though. Not that my guild ever would, but I'm glad they've never asked for my account info. (I'm a wizard, and hence, easily replaced in a raid.)
As I was heading to bed, my husband asked me for my password. He wanted to use Korina to gray out a zone for him.
I looked at him with a look that said, "You want my WHAT?!"
No way. I don't want him on my computer, not with my password, not running my character around. If I have to leave a group, I'll just leave. If I can't make it somewhere, I'll see you another day.
What if someone sends me a tell? What if something happens that I should respond to?
I don't even go afk on Korina for more than 10 minutes at a time. I can't imagine Korina ignoring a potential customer, or being unresponsive to a friend.
Not to mention the messiness when things go sour. Once, someone in our guild awoke to find her character stripped of gear and money. The culprit was a person she allowed to play her healer at a raid. @_@
If you see Korina online, trust, it's the real deal.
[Brought to you by the letter B and the number 6.]

Re: Account Sharing
Makes me antsy as hell too.
When you knew me on Najena, it was unavoidable. My then SO insisted on it, and had I refused would have pitched a fit with liberal doses of "What are you trying to hide?!?!!? ZOMG you're having a cyber affair!!!!!"
* rolls eyes *
But, yeah. Right there with you sugar.
If you see me, or any of my other personalities... It's me.

Re: Account Sharing
Sometimes my brother plays, and when I say sometimes I mean rarely. We can't really pay $30 a month for two accounts so he has a character on my account. (Hamod the 23 Dark Elf Warlock on Befallen.)
But that's it. I told the kid to not logon to Rhoslyn and mail platinum to his character or something or I smack him.
Not that'll do any good, he may be younger but he's taller and larger than me...

Re: Account Sharing
I don't give my info to many, but I guess for me in EQ1 and EQ2 it was mroe a case of once I was established in my guild for a good amount of time, if there was need for the guild leader or an officer to bot one of my toons for whatever raid/quest whatever I would give the info.
I always figured if I couldn't trust my guild leader or officers and my account got stolen/deleted whatever, then it would probably be time to leave the game anyway. I am/was also far less attached to my EQ2 toons then I was with EQ1.

Something tells me this is the only reason you don't let your husband play your toon. When you say "someone" we know what you mean. :smiley-wink:

I agree. I didn't do it in EQ1, didn't do it in EQ2 - no thanks.

Re: Account Sharing
If things go bad between you and your husband, 1's and 0's that make up your character and its gear are the least of your problems.
