    Default Hello, EQ2 Flames. Calling ALL end-game PRO's.

    I am a returning player with many years EQ/EQ2 experience. I quit shortly after getting my Swashs epic. I can't remember why. I think it had something to do with me joining the Army.

    So much has changed and I don't even know where the fuck to begin as far as picking a new class to jump into. EQ2 end raiding is very min/max IIRC, so my questions are these.

    (and before it's posted, yes, I have done plenty of browsing in various class forums, combat forums, general discussions, rate-a-retard ((Dakkota ?!??? yikes)), etc. trying to research and NO, I am not looking to play the FOTExpansion class, just gauging where classes sit/have moved to)

    1. Are Assassins still at the top of the tier in regards to dps? I am confused with zone wide numbers and whatnot as I have looked at some parses but it's been so long I can't quite remember how to read ACT parses. What other classes sit at the top? I know this can vary per encounter but back when I raided, it was Assassins, followed by Brigs/Swashs, Wiz / Conj - how much has this changed?

    2. Healer viability? I've been able to determine that in this expansion, healers are asked to do DPS for trivial content, thus making the Mystic favored, followed by the Inquisitor for their group cures. Do groups flat out refuse to give Druids raid spots, or Templars? If I want to play a Mystic, is it a must that I dps? If I want to play a healer and am NOT concerned with dps I do but moreso my healing/buffing/curing capabilities (...because I played to be a healer...??), which of the healing capable classes are the overall more powerful healers over the Mystic?

    3. Which of the tank classes are favored for end-game? When I stopped playing, Guardians were end-all, be-all of the tanks. I may want to make a tankish alt, but don't want to be completely irrelevant once I hit the cap.

    Please take it easy on a returning newb when answering my questions. It's been 6~ years and I would love all of my questions summed up as all of the information I read was usually biased or convoluted.

    Muchos gracias!

    1. Beastlords or mages(summoners or sorcs)> preds
    2. inq and mystics are widely used now over most healer classes due to what you said melee buffs/cures
    3. with reckless being put in to the game monk/either crusader > warrior /rusier

    can't quote for shit on my phone so;

    1. beastlords pretty much win. long/ae heavy fights sorcerers can keep up. aside from that both predators do well, rangers are top quality dps now too. summoners are very close to sorcerers.

    2. if you play a templar or defiler, you are very likely to end up in MT, there is seldom use for one outside MT

    it is not a must by any means but if you want to play your class to it's fullest potential you will want to dps on every healer class. druids are flexible and do get raid spots, furies usually only in mage group

    3 for maintanking difficult content a brawler or guardian is preferred. if you are just tinkering around in skyshrine easymode anything can do the job. as for offtanking, again anything can do the job.

    I do want to play a DPS, but this time around I'd like to do a ranged dps. Pets aren't really my thing so I think a Conjuror/Necro are out of the question.

    Rangers really intrigue me but I know components of that class require some usage of melee abilities, or am I mistaken?

    How are Warlocks these days? I've leveled a Wizard to the mid 60's back when I played and would like to try a different style of Wizard this time around but not if they're as bad off as they were back then.

    I'm surprised Beastlords are top dps, shocked actually. Has this been the case since Sony released them? Based on what you guys said, in terms of dps, if I put this on paper I'd have;

    Beastlord > Assassin / Ranger > Cloth casties (wiz, warlock, conj, nec) > preds?

    Thanks for all the info so far!

    1. Assassin/Ranger/Swash/Wizard/Warlock/Conj/Necro/Beastlord are all pretty balanced now. Brigands are a little behind but they have far more max hp debuffs than any other class so they're still baller as fuck.

    2. Any and every healer will be expected to dps at least a little (especially inqs for proccing fanatical devotion) because honestly most of the time you don't have to press heal buttons nonstop. Templars less than most but Defilers have damage attached to some debuffs/heals and their dog is free dps so...; For healing/buffing capabilities, they're all pretty balanced. Defilers, Templars, Wardens have a lot of nice tools for tanks/survivability and Mystics, Inqs, Furies, Wardens have nice buffs for dps classes. But you really can put any 2 healers (of different classes, no fury/warden) in a group and win (except maybe like...fury/inq in an mt group. You'd probably die a lot on harder stuff without wards).

    3. All of the tanks are fairly balanced. Berserkers are a little low for raid content but they can still get the job done, it just requires a better player and better players behind the healers to get it done. I classify Guardians/Monks/Bruisers as MTs and Paladins/Shadowknights/Berserkers as OTs, but any class can fill either role.

    To play a ranger properly, you don't stay at range.

    Beastlords have been OP since launch, probably SoE's marketing techniques to blame.

    Beastlord > Warlock > Necro/Wizard > Assassin > Conjy > Ranger > Rogues + Other shit.

    Everyone's answered your questions, but I wanted to reinforce the answer about Druids. Wardens are fantastic. Heck, we raid with 3 of them. So many wonderful tools, and if the fight's easy, then lots of DPS.
