I don't really like the idea that channel is censored either but...

It's a public channel and the game is rated T not M. Unless they are going to jack the rating up SOE not only has a right but a resonsibility to keep their channels T or they are opening themselves up to a lawsuit.

If people don't like it, too damn bad. Start a private channel like the rest of us.

The ESRB has a thing you can put under your rating that says "Online experience may change" that allows publishers to keep the rating no matter what people say in game.

I'm no prude, but I strongly believe there is a time and place for everything, and that anyone who describes graphically detailed deviant sex acts in a public channel gets what they have coming to them.

I've been in some of the world's most notorious establishments and have seen things that will scar my mind forever, and the frank discussion I sometimes see when someone is trying to gross out the channel still makes me lean back from my screen.

The issue is not necessarily words that can be screened out by the profanity filter. Anyone who's taken a high school creative writing course and read Penthouse Forum can easily describe the most graphic sex acts imaginable, and in every human and animal orifice, without ever triggering the profanity filter. It's just wrong to talk like that in public channels.

Ok and you really think that is going to protect them from a Mothers Against Videogames member whose son asks mommy what a moon cup is? (who says you can't learn anything at Fan Faire?)

I tried to pull that exact example on Grimwell at Fan Faire and he wasn't buying it.

So sorry.

What is a moon cup?

And yes, there's a million Xbox Live games where people spam the mic with filth, and nobody bothers the publishers about that.

Ok Radar, you have piqued my curiousity. I know what it means to "snowball", but please, do tell, what is a "moon cup"? =p

What the hell, I'll just save everyone the trouble of clicking on the link:

Quote:
THE KEEPER or MOON CUP is designed to catch your menstrual flow rather than absorb it. Its bell shape allows THE KEEPER or MOON CUP to fit snuggly and comfortably up against your vaginal walls, below but not touching your cervix. The rim is designed to help create a suction that keeps THE KEEPER or MOON CUP in place and collects your menstrual flow inside of it. The small holes around the rim are to help release the suction when you remove the cup.
Thanks for sharing Radar!
