If you raid, you should have or at least be trying to get all your masters. Who cares if they are going to get upgraded in the expansion.

Shit I just paid 30 plat for a L60 master even though I know it's going to be upgraded in a couple months. Sure it might not seem worth it, but if you aren't actively trying to master yourself out, you don't belong raiding.

aye same here. sure, i just bought fusion, ice nova, and surging tempest for my wizard, as well as a shit stack of acrylia (now down to 40g on my server......) for adept 3s, and i intend on raiding the toon once in every zone our guild can clear. but am i mastering it out? no i dont intend to do that till t8. why? well it isnt my raid main, we have like 4 active 70 wizards and a few more that are semiactive/alts. to me spending the money on the key spells (roots, big nukes, uber buffs) for masters is all that i really need. the toon is probably just going to be another source of income, and i really dont want to squander my income on a stack of shit that wont be worth horse nuts in a few months when i honestly dont feel i need it.

however, for my raid main and main alt, i actively check the broker every day for any gear i could use or master spell that i want (few and far between, like 6 total across both toons, mostly not worth it at all). only things i really want right now are some better armor on my paladin, better jewelery on my monk, and some better weapons for both. everything else is fluff at this point since it is all gonna get nerfed/replaced soon

I suppose what it boils down to is how much spare cash you have and how much you want a master.

Persoanlly I wont be buying any more unless they are 2-3 plat or under, ive got all my important ones and only need the odd few that are a tiny upgrade on adept 3 but seem to be priced at massive amounts. And I really dont see the point of spending 25+ plat on a master that im going to need to buy another upgrade for in a few months as I dont have a massive wad of cash to blow.

Im guessing most people will be in the same boat as me and wont be wanting to shell out loads for a few months use, which should drive prices down, but there are always the odd few who will still pay a huge amount for a master they will need to buy again in a few months.

The expansion is 3 more months away - how hard is it to farm plat?

Oooook.... That concept is already out there. It's called: Progress Quest

I think the "no upgrade for 14 levels" quirk, is one of the only original things left in EQ2. I am a bit concerned that $OE will "reset" EQ2 with RoK expansion (reset as in: all you worked for is now gimped, start rebuilding your toon or zod off).

I am looking forward to RoK ofcourse and keeping fingers crossed that $OE won't screw the original concept over too badly.

I believe the only ancient teachings spells getting upgrades are ones that need to scale, such as those that do damage or debuffs. So for example, templar's ancient teachings Sanctuary and Reverence probably won't be upgraded.

I agree, and I DO look for spells and I still farm regularly. But I just do not see the value in spending 25p on a master when I already have all the ones I consider important (all my buffs, all my mezzes and about half my damage spells) and the rest are some of the first to be upgraded come ROK. I'd rather horde that 25p and spend it on the upgraded version. Now if that same spell were say... 5-10p, I would be more inclined to buy it.
