Default Final Results of the Server Merges - Who Did Better, the Mergers, or the Mergees?

I've been curious about this, and I think it is an important point.

I think I've listed the servers correctly in this poll, regarding which servers were merged near the start of the KoS expansion. So this poll is based on 20 servers merging into 10. I can update this poll if I was incorrect, so please let me know quickly if there were more merges than are shown in this poll

My question is this: In most cases before the merges, there was one "leading" guild on each server. The top guild on most servers was usually the first guild on each server to defeat particular raid mobs, and got the majority of contested on that server during the DoF expansion.

But then came the server merges. It seems to me in each case, one of the "top" guilds on the two merged servers became the clear winner on the merged server. And also in each case, the other "formerly top" guild was made much worse off by the merge, because it was no longer able to be the first to beat raid content or get the majority of contested mobs on the new server.

I'm only personally familiar with the outcome of two servers. On both servers I'm familar with, the guild that didn't have to move seemed to end up as the number one guild on the server after the merges. I'd like to find out whether this happened in all or most cases, and whether "homefield advantage" played any part in this outcome.

If you were on a server that merged, or transferred off a merged server after the merges, I'd like your opinion on these questions:

-For all "top" guilds before the merges, did the guild that didn't have to move, somehow get a "homefield advantage" and a better deal?

-Did all or most "top" guilds who had to move onto a new server as part of a merge end up worse off on the new server BECAUSE of the merge?

-How many guilds ended up disbanding, and how many players left the game, FOR THE SOLE or PRIMARY reason of the merges?

-Were these merges ultimately "in the best interest of EQ2", as Scott Hartsman wrote before they occurred, or did they actually ruin EQ2 for a large number of players?

Please discuss these topics below, and also vote in this poll, if you are currently playing on a merged server, or have transferred from one since the merges.

The poll is set up to allow one vote per user. If you are on a merged server or have transferred off one since the merges, please pick the server that the current "top" guild on your server came from.

I have the surviving server listed as "Surviving Server", and the server that no longer exists listed as "Transferred Server" in each case. For the purposes of this poll, please choose the "top" guild based on which guild on your server can claim the majority of server firsts for epic x4 named encounters and the most contested epic x4 mobs for the KoS expansion (not including Bonemire "cube" mobs).

In the case of almost every server, there should be a clear winner between the Surviving Server and the Transferred Server guilds. My purpose for this poll is to determine whether one of the two types of guilds emerged as clear winners overall, and why.

Thank you

I know the merges bent lavastorm over pretty good. I think the devs purposefully merged lavastorm and nektulos just because of the shit that went down between tuna and whoever he talked shit to in disso. But thats ancient history.

in the terms you speak of I have to be honest EL has gotten the majority of contested and beaten many mobs before DH maybe its Kalidons contact in other guilds and he finds it easier to obtain starts? I dont know. but I was withthem when they got most of them, so do I just get to say I WIN?

But thought it was absolutley retarded making only 1 station exchange. because as you mentioned "someone Transfer off because of the merged" well hot damn Station echange cant do that. and also as a resultthere is only one you can possible sell to which eventually just leads to an over abundance of high end players and leads to bloated rosters..so uh.. Bazaar Wants to Buy more Raiding Guild Leaders PST. I would like to see 2 more guild scrambling to contested pops =p

I really wish they didnt do away with shadow Haven, i mean wtf we HAD to havea pvp exchange.. well pvp exchange dd get one thing RIGHT other servers cant Xfer to it. meaning any toon bought on vox are vox grown and not a non-exchange quiter.

-- EDIT: isnt it funny how 5 pvp servers are released right after the server merges? I personally think sony was just to cheap to buy more servers for pvp so just merged us and used the old ones for pvp. they also did server merges on EQlive just before the release of more EQ2 Servers. makes ya think huh? bunch of cheap skates.

EC was top guild on Faydark and quickly became top guild on Befallen after the merge.

I think the merges were good for servers as far as population and "competition" before the merge there wasn't a single guild on Faydark who even attempted or raced EC for anything. Not saying there never was competition on Faydark, there was some early on, but most of those guilds either disbanded or moved servers prior to the merge.

I think that Nektulos by far is where all the L33T players come from...

...except for me

IMO...the server merges sucked as far as lag, I never had spell lag or zone lag until the server merges and now it seems I can't go to any zone without tons of lag. I like the competition aspect of the merge but it was not worth it. I never saw the problem with having one guild dominate...........it is always going to happen eventually anyway why destroy guilds from other servers to create competition.

Whoever voted for Lavastorm is seriously delusional. There is no question on Nek which guild is top, its Disso. There's quite a battle for second place tho. Its starting to look like Unrest lol. "Dude, we're so #2!"

EC has been top guild on befallen since the instant transfers took place. we camped their contested before the merge and saw 2 terrors, 1 urzyd, and 1 barakah dead within days of transfering with members of Befallen guilds showing up and acting like retards (delvo, for example).

With a huge number of active raiding guilds, we have yet to lose a contested. Back when PoA was contested, we killed the gorenaire/talendor mob every single morning. Why? So other guilds didn't have a fucking chance. (yes, i said it:smileysad We leveled conj alts and camped them all at harla dar and CoH'd an entire raid to her within a few minutes of her spawn.

EC thrives off competition, which is why i'm very excited for EoF. Until they instance avatars or something.

No question that Aftermath (started on BB) came off much better than Genesis (from Highkeep). Genesis came from a server with no competition so never had to camp contesteds and coming to Butcherblock was pretty much the end of contesteds for them.
