Default Guild Ranks an effort at definition.

Can we go ahead and get a solid definition of the different types of guilds. Everywhere I see casual versus hardcore, and full time versus part time. When in reality the guilds that are at the true end game spend far less time raiding than guilds that are attempting to break in to the end game.

So from off the top of my warped noggin, we have:

Rank 1 - Ultra Endgame Guilds, these are the few guilds out there that have completed all end game content including killing every single contested in the current tier, and all instances.

Rank 2 - Endgame Guilds, these are the guild that have taken down at least one contested and completed all instanced content.

Rank 3 - General Raiding Guilds, these are the guilds that raid weekly but haven't defeated all of the instanced content, they might have killed a contested, but are still just general raiding guilds until all the instances in the current expansion are done.

Rank 4 - Near Raiding Guilds, these are guilds that are still gearing up and recruiting players to raid in the previous expansion and might have defeated one or two instances in the current expansion.

Rank 5 - Pickup and Alliance Guilds, these are guilds who have a pocket sized raiding force and usually team up or host up raids to get a full raid.

To be honest, calling Rank 4 "casual" might not be correct. Because it takes more of an effort, time wise, to gear up to become Rank 3 than it does going from Rank 3 to Rank 2. Most of the Rank 4 guilds that are trying to move in to Rank 3 are raiding 30+ hours a week to increase the number of drops, and get a solid group of raiders that can work together harmoniously. Once the Rank 4's have a dedicated group of raiders and have taken out a couple of instances in the current expansion, then I think they can be considered a general raiding guild.

I'd be curious to see how the SOE folks define the different types of raiding guilds while they chit chat around the water cooler.

Also, feel free to flame or criticize my definitions. I'll make changes and edit the list to add, remove, update to what is a better 'ranking' system. I'm really curious to see if these types of ranks will stand up in RoK.

There are guilds that clear all instanced zones but do not bother racing for contested unless it is in their way. Call it tier 2.5!

Maybe I should just say, killed a contested in either the current or previous expansion. From what I've seen there isn't much of a race to kill contesteds in kos anymore. Even when I was in Fatal, and we were technically a Rank 4 guild, we still took out a couple of kos contested mobs, just because they were up, and could use the AA.
