In the test server notes I found this to be somewhat disturbing:

Tower of Stone: Now has a percentage chance to trigger (100% at Master I), Mitigation is now calculated in determining if the Stoneskin triggers its damage threshold. Damage done to shields has been removed. Trigger count reduced to 2.

Currently the spell absorbs the next three attacks regardless of your mitigation or any other calculation. With this change it makes this spell an anti-death spell instead of our most critical ward.

The only thing I like is I can get rid of the 7 extra shields I carry around and my shield swap hotbar since this won't damage our shields anymore.

Who else feels this is going to hurt tanking alot?

The changed was removed and it never happened to get to the Live servers.

That post you read/linked is over 2 months old.

They've long since reverted back to the old and still current version of tower of stone.

But......was this change permanently cancelled? Or just delayed like the scout hate transfer nerf? Who knows.

I personally like the current ToS because it gives me a valid reason to hoard every fabeled tower in the game. They come in handy for different resists as well as well as ToS.
(I do however always use the towershield of strife or the stoneshield bulwark on almost everything)
