I would go into the logs for the encounter and just do a search for 'soandso ripostes' or whatever the proper string was.

Either way, my question stands. Thats 65-75 ripostes across the raid (or my other question would how frigging long did you fight him in your example?? :P).

Does the wording on cripple mean it'll reduce the damage for anyone, or just you? I'd look, but basically havent been near everquest2 in a few days, tis the season and all.

Hmm, that's an interesting question Grind. Initially I thought it was a no-brainer, but the exact description on all abilities from the crippling line now have the flavor text:

That's not entirely clear in and of itself. Though I'm leaning toward only reducing ripostes for people who have the Cripple buff on them, hence, the guardian.

Well does it apply cripple on you or on the mob? I imagine it shows up in your maintained and as a debuff on the mob. Just guessing tho since i dont have the AA. If thats the case it would just be a riposte ingeneral.

It shows up in maintained when one of the cripple abilities in that line lands on the mob. Not sure if applies to the mob or just on you as its so hard to tell what all goes on the mob. How much did those average ripostes from Phara and Silverwing hit for thats what i want to know.

just my opinion but i think the crippling line is useless, please prove me wrong.

Crippling says " after any crippling ability strikes your enemy, there next reposte is great weakends"
now the 1 reposte is reduced by 60%, does notmake the next 10 that happens in that 10 seconds to be reduced by 60% only if a crippling ability is used.

So if 65 - 75 attacks are reposted how many are actually getting the 60% damage reduction. If you want to prove me wrong show me that 75% or even 50% of those attack are being reduced.

now this is just the ability crippling, lets look at the rest of the line crippling line and tell me is it worth it, to me no. There is better options out there.

Edit: if a mob has multiple reposte ability for a limited time the best thing to do is turn your attack off, again this makes the crippling line useless.

well you can keep the cripple debuff up the majority of the time, and i guess it comes down to on the harder fights, if it stops one hit from killing you, im a fan
and i know for a fact i have been killed on silverwing before from auto attack + riposte right afterwards
so if i can prevent that, im sold on it heh

Well anything pre VP i would agree with it being junk but stuff there his so hard that i am considering taking it. Im just not sure how much riposte hits for, i assume its just a normal auto attack. If this is the case then i think its deffinatly worth it since its basicly a free damage reduction from some massive hits.

I've been checking the logs on this recently and it appears that my repostes are hitting for my weapon's base damage with no STR or DPS adjustment (iow base not actual). Crits are possible. Whether this applies to the mob's reposte, not sure yet...

Players only riposte for a small number relative to how high you can hit for. Mobs riposte for the same amount that they auto attack for, and ripostes can crit.

I think the reason is because mobs hit for ridiculous amounts without factoring in strength or DPS mod. Their base weapon damage is just huge, so their ripostes are just as huge as their normal attacks.
