Default Pawbuster's Elemental

How are other MT's avoiding Pawbuster's uncureable elemental/memwipe Cleave?

Watch for him swinging the hammer and step forward inside the mob. He is rooted and stunned while casting that combat art. Move out of the way

Here's the thing, when he starts rooting himself and winds up for the swing, even if I run 20 meter's behind the mob the opposite side, hes facing, i'll still eat the elemental/stun. I was only able to avoid it once and that was when somebody ripped agro from me prior to him doing the Cleave.

Everyone else I talk to, says their guild killed him using the pathing exploit.

Once he sets his target area, he hits you, period. There is no dodging it. You either get hit, or you don't. That being you're either in front of him when he swings, or you're not, thus you don't get hit.

Oh its not just 20 meters if this guy has aggro on you I dont know if its possible to avoid his stun. Just for the hell of it I tried running up the stairs while PB was on the grate and got to the top step behind him and was still stunned. If there are guilds that do this out there with One MT do tell.

Pathing exploit sounds promising lol.

I was behind this mob by 40+ meters and still got stunned... If you dont have aggro this works fine... If you have aggro your getting the stun no matter what when he roots lifts hammer and smacks it down.

Well that makes sense then... Now here's a question, since he root's himself when he starts his elemental greater cleave, if somebody cast dumfire pets, or we had an off-tank stank closer to him than I was, wouldn't that cause Pawbuster to switch targets, making it possible to avoid the uncureable elemental?

Yes it would. All stunned mobs work on the same ruleset... they target the closest thing to them that they can hit. You don't have to aggro switch or anything, just get somebody or something else to get closer to him than you are.

We use multiple tanks, I just eat the stuns and then get it back. Peel really helps (duh) if you have a monk, also drag and whatever else bruisers have.

I couldn't find a way to dodge the stun, other people were able to dodge by moving, but it seemed no matter where I went, I couldn't avoid the stun. I tried to keep him as close to a corner as possible and avoid being KB'd out of his melee range, this enabled me to get aggro back quickly.

Treat it like an endurance fight, if you can survive 3-4 minutes, you can kill him, just work on sustaining. Our first win was something retarded like 15 minutes long.

Prior to his Great Cleave, he buffs himself with Bloodlust. It's one continous action: Bloodlust, then Great Cleave.
As soon as he starts to cast the Bloodlust buff, he is rooted.
As near as I can determine, whomever has aggro at that exact moment will get hit with Great Cleave, regardless of where they are standing or their proximity to the mob. Essentially, they have become the target of the spell.

Anyone inside the 9 meter radius of the axe head when it hits the ground will also get the elemental stun on them, but that is easy to avoid.

Yes, once he has his axe stuck in the ground, he will target whomever is closest to him, but that doesn't help with managing who he has aggro on at the moment he casts Bloodlust.

Unless I totally misunderstand the mechanics of his Great Axe attack, which is entirely possible.

On a side note, his whirling attack with the stifle only hits the 15 players closest to him. Healers that stand behind the DPS will not get stifled, making that part of the encounter trivial.
