Best gear - My wishlist

Greetings,

I was looking through the various sources of information for known drops in an effort to compile a list of what armour pieces are really good and what will soon be replaced. I am doing this so I know what gear to go all out on DKP for and which gear will probably end up as resist gear. Also, knowing that I have a piece I will never upgrade means I can go ahead and adorn it without fear of wasting cash.

Some pre-requisites to this list
1) I have not included items from contested epics
2) I am aiming for the most defensive gear I can get while still maintaining a good dps level. In other words, I have chosen items with extra mit, parry, block over items with crit, DA or +ca
3) There may be slightly better items for head, shoulders, hands but I think that the reduction in the reuse of reinforcement from wearing three RoK fabled set pieces far outweighs any loss in stats.

I know you said not from contested epics, but Severilous doesn't count as "contested". Farm it, the green shield completely owns the Enduring Wall.

Most of them are okay gear choices but there's more than 1 item per slot, situationally, depending what you want. YMMV, though. If you really want to dual wield, the Witchdoctor Doomblade is better than the Serrator, etc..

I have the mastercrafted ring of strength but I would only use that for trash clearing. I think the stats on the listed item are better defensively. Am I wrong?

Yep. I have other items that I have in mind but I was aiming for a list of the best stuff, ie the stuff I will adorn first and pay shit loads of DKP for. Situational stuff will come in time

Pretty nice kite shield though

Killed Severilous a few times. Never dropped the shield. I think I had better get farming again

Yes it's a kite shield, you can swap in enduring wall for ToS I guess, but that's about all it's good for, it's a garbage shield, you might as well use some legendary crap off of faction merchants for tos aswell.

Use a different piece, +5 block is a game changing effect. Wear your shitty set boots or something. +3 uncontested parry is more arguable, but really if you're going for defense, your best bet is to use 3 of boots, breastplate, gloves, forearms, leggings.

No, but really you're giving up a decent chunk of DPS - esp. if you run with no coercer in the tank group - for a very marginal amount of hitpoints. It's the kind of tradeoff that's easy to make, it's not like pulse of power has anything redeeming about it except some extra hps.

Ok - Gonna take your advice. Given the list above, which item would you sacrifice in order to get the three set bonus? Or would you even bother?

I disagree with using trash shields for ToS. Your best option for ToS is to use your best Tower Shield, that way you have a higher chance of blocking one of those hits that would have used up your ToS, and leaving that ToS for the next hit, thus making you have more survivability.

I'm the same - We have shit loads of mender bots in raid so its no big deal to keep your best one repaired. I use Royal Ardent Aegis atm, I would have thought that Enduring Wall would be better. Tower Shields are quite rare is this expansion

Added not that long ago, it drops from the golem (ring event) in VoES. Should be on par with the RAA if anyone is looking for more ToS fodder.
