Gonna have to disagree here. That's the same thing that was said for melee skills. In t7 the cap was 455, and many of us seen an increase in hit percent when going over the so-called "hard" cap. This is the hard cap vs even con mobs. When you're fighting different level mobs, I believe the hard cap calculation changes to 6.5 times the level of the mob you are fighting. And in a tank role when you're getting debuffed, it would be good to be a little over the cap for this reason as well.

How's that AA setup working out for you? Do you typically have any aggro issues?

Also seeing that our HoL CA's are based upon when we get hit, would a high avoidance adversely affect out HoL hate proc's?

I think you're referring to our Hold the Line buff in this question...

Technicall yes, but Hold the Line is an almost worthless buff imo. The hate gain from that buff is extraordinarily trivial. Hold the Line is more than likely our worst hate generating tool. At A3 it does ~560 hate 50% of the time we're hit, so essentially that equates to roughly 280 hate we gain to a mob every time we're hit. That means that we have to get 5 times to increase our hate by 1,400. Knowing that 1 point of damage = 1 point of hate, and also assuming that raid buffed a noncriting non double attacking auto attack does at least 1,500 damage, it's easy to see the uselessness of this buff in the grand hate scheme.

Basically with that buff on, we get the equivalent of an extra crappy taunt every 6th time we get hit. That, coupled with the understanding that avoidance basically dominates any other tanking stat makes for a poor buff all together.

It's not a worthless buff, but it's definately our worst buff by far. Don't worry about negatively impacting buffs that trigger when you get hit by not getting hit. Not getting hit is always better than getting hit no matter what buffs are on you.

To be honest, im not overly excited with this setup. Sometimes it works very well but sometimes, well, things could be better. Aggro doesnt seem to be an issue in offensive stance but it severely affects my avoidance (obviously) and if i dont have a competant healer in gp i would b struggling. Having a good group setup always allows me to tank in offense but when it comes to raiding mobs, offense is a no go for me. In defense, i have to regulary rely on my taunts and in some cases if there is an over zealous warlock/wizzy in gp i have to use reinforcement/rescue to save him/her from dying. Furthermore, in defense i parse between 1.5k-2k max which means that my dps is not helping the aggro muc. It seems that i fix the issue with my defense then i lose out on aggro and vice versa. Im still working on the right set up for me and from the tips and suggestions i have so far, i have managed to squeeze out another 2.7% avoidance. So with food/drink and self buffed im pushing 60%. Which is not much but considering what i had before its a good start.

Im sure some good loot will make things better but for the time being im trying my best with what i have.

Also, i have to wait a couple of days to respec as im having some technical problems with it (have petitioned and SOE have found a cause). But definately would add more points to agi>defense and int>parry. Will keep to Tower shield as i dont have a good buckler but if i do then will try STA with Agi and Int.

The "Hold the Line" series is rather weak now, and moreso it really became worthless in RoK. There are too few multi-mob encounters which are the only encounters when the extra hate is even slightly handy.

The loss of HoL hate when going high-avoidance wont even be noticed, and a good Rogue feeding AoE hate is worth 100x more than that buff imo.
