Your biggest problem wont be keeping aggro if you tank CoA at lvl 72 with a fury as healer. Its more like not to die.

Other than that. Moderate goes best on the brawler.

You're 72. You should have learned this by now.

You won't be able to hold aggro off the bruiser (or the assassin), nor should you try. CoA will rip you a new asshole at 72 if you can even tank your way through Sebilis to the zone in.

But to answer your question if you insist on trying to tank, mod the bruiser.

Just call me glutton for punishment. I enjoy trying new things and things everyone says I can't or shouldn't do. I find it to be a wonderful way or learning the ability limits of my characters.

Thank you for responding to the question.

It is nice to know that no matter the reasoning, questions can be answered without rhetoric.

Please understand. The previous posters were not trying to belittle you or be rude, but facts are facts. With you at 72 and the Brawler at 80, unless the Brawler is being played by a 6 year old and has never played before, you will not be able to hold aggro off of him, period.

If you can manage to hold aggro off the Bruiser, he sucks, plain and simple. At 72, the trash mobs alone with eat your face most likely, not to mention the regular named.

The end boss will prob have you dead in about 10 seconds, if your healer rocks.

The agression level of a Brawler 8 levels higher than you, along with auto attack will prob rip aggro from you.

Just saying.

In the off chance that you do keep aggro off the bruiser/assassin.. orange/red con mobs will eat you for breakfast...

The two druid heal combo isnt helping you either.

My concern is at lvl 72 you should already have an understanding of what it takes to control and keep aggro, who to moderate, when/where to use temp buffs and such.

Best of luck though.

DPS is how you get, keep and/or control aggro.

And in a group setup you'll be atleast 1/5th of the dps if not more so maximising your DPS at the lowest cost of survivability will most often benefit the group.

I know I may not sound grateful, but I am, for all the responses.

I am fully aware of how difficult it is to hold agro from a monk/bruiser a few levels higher than me. It has always been difficult, this is why I ask the question.

With respect to my giving and going dps comment, it was more about giving up and swapping to a 2h weapon. I have yet to find a situation where using a 2h weapon will gain me enough agro to tank using one. Then again, even if it did, would I want to with loosing the shield mitigation, blocking etc etc..

I have always found the best way to learn a character, in any game, is to push the limits of the character and my abilities. I see no reason to change now.

If the brawler dont suck and you are at lvl 80 and have no hate gain he will grab aggro from time to time anyway. And why would you ever use a 2hander? you are a warrior use DW. You will lose dps on 2hands. And still you have to understand how it works... stay in KC or something till you hit around 76ish then you can try on CoA. Its not to be rude or anything... but try and tank that on lvl 73 is only crazy and stupid. let the bruiser tank. You wont hold aggro and the healers cant keep you up to much at all in there... It would be easier to lvl a lvl 80 mage tank it.

This sounds as if you should read up more on guardians before you actually try to tank anything. There are many threads here were you, from reading, wouldve learned that a 1h+buckler setup does more damage than a 2h weapon. Moreover, shields dont give mitigation, they give protection, which is something else entirely.

"Pushing a character and your skills to its limits" -- start by pushing your knowledge to its limits, and beyond. There's a lot of info here that will be new to you. And IF you really prefer tanking for a group without that knowledge, go to Karnor's Castle. You still won't hold aggro off an 80 bruiser, but at least you won't go down all 5 minutes. I can't help but wonder how you leveled to 71 in the first place tho.
