Priceless...
So, after a long break, Paladin tanking in that other game that shall not be named... I have returned to eq2. So i level from 57-80. I collect ~300p along the way. (cuz my Girlfriend uses my character to cook) I decided that i might as well see what kind of upgrades i can find on the Broker so that i can start on the road to getting my ass equipped enough that people won't laugh at the nub...
And theres nothing to buy. I picked up a crap buckler, a stupid club, and thats it. No legendary items that are better than my quest/master crafted crap. no odd fabled, nuthin that i can see spending $$ on other than m1 spells.
Is crushbone just bereft of things to buy, or am i really supposed to get every piece of gear directly out of instances? I don't mind doing it, but if i can get an edge before hand with my otherwise worthless platinum...
anyhow, any suggestions on worthwile purchases?

Get your gear from instance/raid, and spend your plats on M1 spells and Adornements (+3% riposte weap, +3% parry bracers(x2)) and lvl 80 mount :p

Re: Priceless...
Nothing more to it than run instances. You might wanna look into the Dreadscale Greaves, they have a pretty nice tank proc on them. (on blackburrow they are going for 2p atm heh)
I'm no master on tank gear, so the only thing I'd do is make sure you do a search of items with +defense on em to make sure your not missing anything obvious.
You may also want to consider looking into the various collection rewards, you can get a helm that adds a bonus to all your CAs (coif of the reet knight or soemthing), a belt that gives ~2 melee crit and 28 haste (from the Chardok Chokidai collar collection).
And don't forget to look through the faction merchants, might find something useful in there somewhere.

Re: Priceless...
They used to be usable by warriors, the only version usable by warriors now is the "ancient dreadscale greaves" which don't drop anymore.
You will need to run instances, although some of the level 77 MC gear isn't too bad. You really should have started grouping at 75 or 77 or so, CoA and Vaults are definitely tankable at those levels. There are some decent items from the faction vendors, jewelry wise, and some from quests. Find a tank that you know would have the best of the t8 heroic gear and inspect 'em. Most non-raiding guards are wearing the same things right now.

Re: Priceless...
There are a few good items that can be on broker, check this topic:
http://www.EQ2Flames.com/guardians/2...-gear-rok.html
There are f.e. 2 items from blue shiny collections that are very good. You can buy those.
That being said, I prefer to get good no-trade items from quests and instances rather then buying tradeable stuff from broker. Gives you a sense of achievement when an item finally drops, are you waded through a quest line to get a good piece. /shrug
Also, you can try to buy loot rights to same fabled items if you dont know what to do with your money. The buckler from PR, and the forearms, are pretty cool. Got the buckler for 60p the other day, since my guard is a non-raiding alt, I'd not have the chance for getting that gear although PR is piss easy.

The gear that's available from quests in RoK is actually a good starting point, and, like the other's here have said, is really the better gear you can have until you start raiding with very few exceptions. If you do the appropriate quests in Kunark (which are basically all of them), you'll have more than sufficient gear for any group zone and starting raid zone. It's unfortunate imo, but the best non-raid loot is quested and extremely easily attainable.
No one will laugh at you or call you a nub if you're decked out only in the better quested gear from RoK.

Dunno about your guild or server, but trying to get a group to do the Seb quest line about Venrils phylactery that results in the Polliwog Protector wrists was a pita. Nothing about that was easy or easily attainable unless you can field a good group for a prolonged period of time.

Re: Priceless...
I'll make a suggestion ( and will likely get laughed at for it ), if your gear is that sub-par, it may be worth-while to look into the 72 MC armor as interim equipment.
As mentioned, the quested stuff is really good, but running around in armor that is for toons sub-70 is really hurting you in comparison.
Again, depends on what your current gear is, and what level it is.

Earlier in my post, I prefaced my thoughts with the quote, "with very few exceptions." This would be one of those exceptions.
And for the record, I don't think Sebilis or the quest lines in it are difficult. I think they're appropriate for lvl 80's at this point in the game.
