... But dropping the +parry skill for the haste does make more sense than having 6 points on parry and just 4 points on acceleration strike. If you can keep it up all the time you will do more auto attack swings, and if your DA is high maxing your Haste, DPS mod and crit should be high priority to increase your DPS output. And if you have dirge and coercer in MT group who will buff your DPS mod, getting the haste up is even more essential.
And what will you loose from taking away 4 points from +parry? not that much, parry skill is contested avoidance, so for epics it's not really that big of a deal.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
We are just starting in VP, druushk down, first hour on nexo leading it to 90%, and with the hit rate i have on these mobs, i don't think acceleration strike is really worth maxing when you tank orange cons at the beginning. With better stuff, you can deal with it, not early on.
As for parry, this is always my n° 1 source of avoidance, on all raid mobs, with or without parry food. Riposte being very close, and block a bit farther.
So, yes, it is contested avoidance, but it works really well.
For easier raids though, i do have 7 points in acceleration strike, just not for VP ^^.

Sorry, I have to ask if you wrote this correctly. Riposte is not an avoidance type...
Riposte is a fencing term that describes a quick counterattack after a successful parry. You cannot riposte (which again is a damage source) without having first parried an attack.
The wording the EQ2 gives to the riposte % increases can be misleading. The STA line for example gives us a maximum of 8% extra chance to riposte. What this really means is that we receive an additional 8% additional chance to parry an attack AND counter it with a riposte.
I think that after all this time, there's still some confusion. Take my word for it guys... Riposte is not one of your direct avoidance checks and can therefore not be counted as one. Your avoidance types are block, dodge, and parry.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
Aye, "Forced Riposte" is just "Forced Parry" with a 100% riposte chance during that check.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
Yes but still, it is separate in parses, nothing usefull in saying : i parry 23% but 12% are riposte.
Lot of gear offers you increased riposte chances, and you can clearly see how effective they are as the 2 wordings are splitted in parses.
Even if they are somewhat the same thing, wording it the way you want, the fact is that they do work very well to defend you, and this is what posts are about, not some wording issues.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
Well since you have an automatic riposte chance (15-20%?) after any type of parry, we just wanted to be sure people didnt assume you can add all parrys+ripostes and get a correct number.
If logs/ACT can tell which ripostes are actually forced, then yea, add em up.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
They will not tell which are forced, but seeing 12% parry / 11% riposte, you can see that gear and AA are effective, because it is far more than even 25% ripostes from parry.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
From my limited experience on my Guardian, a Guardian doesn't have the power a scout does to spam combat arts.. I'm ALWAYS running out of power when everyone else is practically full.
It's night and day in comparison to my Warlock, or Ranger in regards to power consumption.
So you're almost forced to do most your damage through auto attacks.

Re: Kiss My Buckler
Most melee classes do most of their damage through auto-attacks, but its not because they've stopped hitting those buttons. its because auto-attack bonuses (i.e crit/DPS/haste) are all falling from the sky. You can't walk down the road in JW without tripping over atleast 2 crit items and a haste wrist.
Tanks are still hitting the buttons when they're up, just auto-attack gets huge bonuses, while CAs do not.
P.S for everything except raids you shouldn't be running out of power on a single encounter. For raids, you should have a bard, a chanter and atleast 2 healers with pond wash in your MT group. Power is not an issue. After a 24 minute fight against Nexona our MT group still had 95%+ power, and they got drained to empty twice. (and for the record, no we didnt kill it that fight)
EDIT TO ADD: Since I know you're leveling up, I'll just add that what I wrote above only really applies to level 80 and/or raiding. While i was leveling my guardian I had major power issues. Once I started getting some gear in T8 though (and once I could equip the raid gear I had in T7) the power issues weren't so big anymore.
