I was wondering how many Guards tanking in VP are/where going in buckler spec'd and just flipping to thier towers for ToS. I just was curious about how things went for you survibablity wise if so.

I see lots of missed auto attacks while using my Tower shield spec and its causing my DPS to drop unfortunately. That being said i sadly miss having double attacks from the sta line.

I dont always have issue with agro with my tower shield , but it has happened from time to time and always seem to come at the worst possible moments. I would rather just avoid this with easy mode sta line.

The healers i raid with are one of the stronger aspects of our crew. I thought i mention this before the question was asked.

Only thing mob you might have an issue with is Druushk. He is the hardest hitting mob in VP, you are looking at about 2k incoming DPS. If your healers are good, you should be alright.

Don't worry about dying on trash either, shit happens. I always end up dying 3-4 times to trash because healers are snoozing, meanwhile every named gets 1st pulled no problem. Don't stress out about it.

Yeah , they are rock solid. We been working on Nex for the last 2 weeks ( 4 raid days total ) with only 5 healing me. They dont have any issues keeping my fat ass up.

Yeah Druusk hits like a truck. We actually bring in an extra healer for him. Them saying they need extra help is always kinda shocking to me , but he is a mean fuck.

Biggest suggestion on Nexona is don't take more than 6 healers. Depending on how your guild does things, this may seem low, but I assure you it will make a huge difference.

I tried the tower spec on my second run on VP, i got punched to death like i was dual weilding. I posted logs here somewhere, with adorned green dragon, i was getting lower blocks than with virtue's guard.

I am now using sta agi int for VP, and it works pretty well.

Because the 8% avoidance from sta line is uncontested, whereas shield factor is relative to level, there's a fair bit of evidence to suggest until you get the mythical epic you'll get higher avoidance versus level 85+ mobs with virtues guard + a buckler spec than you will with all but 2-3 tower shields in the game.

I would have actually expected the shield of the green dragon to be one of those 2-3 shields, but it's not that suprising to see avoidance with VG + 8% uncontested still come in higher.

What's of course important is you have macros set so using a buckler doesn't hinder ToS.

The "shield factor" you are talking about is protection which equates to block chance. I thought that was uncontested avoidance?

I'm fairly sure block is uncontested. but they all still scale against the enemy's level. But unlike defense and parry skill the level is the one you see and not some random gigantic number that the devs put in to make them more difficult.

And the reason VG+sta line is so good is that VG gives 13.5% block with adorn. that +8% uncontested riposte gives you about 20.4% uncontested. If you use a level 80 tower or kite with around 1500 protection you end up with the same amount of avoidance around 21% so the loss of avoidance is minimal if at all noticable.
When I parse agi vs sta lines I see that I actually do get higher avoidance on avarage with AGI but that's down to the use of Dragoon's Reflexes.

Uncontested means that it doesent scale down you know... 8% riposte will still be 8% riposte no matter what lvl the mob is. The shields scale by lvl.. as do the mit on your armor. So wouldent call it uncontested.

Yeah, the same amount (or more) of avoidance, but compare the block % with VG versus a tower. Even though the avoidance % may be lower, your block % will be loads higher with a tower.
