Default Aspiring Guardian

Hey everyone, I just heard about this website earlier today and I decided to take a peek and search for some new information.

After reading a number of past posts I found it very cool that such high dps can create amazing threat. That works wonderful in my case because I'm also a Guardian on a PvP server.

Some of these specs don't make sense to me though... people who say

Str - 4,4,8
Sta - 4,4,8,8,1
Int - 4,5,8,8,1

That adds up to 69 AA points in the warrior tree... and the cap is 50.

I only have 51 AA points on my 57 Guardian, I'm considering

BW - 1
Int - 4,8,8,7,1 (29)
Sta - 4,8, 8 (20)
-----------------------------
50 points in Warrior tree

In my opinion this spec is great for dps, minus the +crit chance from str. I'm grouping mostly and I spam the hell out of aggro HOs to maintain aggro, and usually I do pretty well. I recognize late end my spec would need to change for +hate gain for high end raid content... but I'm still very far from that point.

Also, I reset my AA today and when I put my points into my Reversal ability... I get the icon on my hotbar and in my book, however... it's dimmed out on my hotbar, leaving me to think I can't use it, no it's not in either of my buff bars, I don't think it's activated. When I click it it says "must have a shield equipped" and I think "wtf?" because I'm using an imbued cobalt tower shield, so I considered "maybe I still need bucklers" so I purchased one to try it out... I equipped the buckler and I still got the message "must have a shield equipped" and after speaking with other Guardians they claimed to be working fine... I considered maybe it's just a bug and will be fixed within the next patch. Anyone else have this problem?

Next I need some input on Guardian tree specialization, I'm assuming Double Attack and Cripple are ideal to maintain optimal DPS.

I haven't even purchased TSO so I can't take a peek at any specs.

Any personalized information would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you my friends!

Cap once you hit 70 is 70 points in the tree, which is why you see that mentioned. Leveling up, id consider some combination of STR/STA and INT, whatever suits your fancy. The int endline owns tho.

Personally while lvling up I used str 448, sta 448 and int 484.

Lvling up mobs don't hit hard enough to warrant going for extra avoidance, and besides in the lower tiers MC armor is more than enough to tank even that tier's raids. When RoK came out I started my guard and tanked t6 raids in t6 MC at lvl 52 and had no issues with it.

Guardian spec, I ran all the bonus to CAs and DA(forgive the lack of knowing the line, I haven't looked at my guard specs in about a month and don't remember) and then the reinforcement reducer and sentry watch reducers, everything else was pretty much to get to those.

Also, prioritize your CAs from quickest refreshing to longest refreshing on your hotbar. Those 10s refreshing small hits add up more than those 60s refreshers except on quick fights. Don't spam your CAs so you miss autoattacks. It drove my wife crazy, but I got ACT and made it beep at me every time I autoattacked so i would know when to hit a CA. Once you get used to it you can turn it off and run through it on your own.

Never get lazy. The second you get lazy and are in a dungeon your group get's set back to the beginning.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

I'm sorry, but what does CA stand for? Counter Attack? and DA = Damage Absorb right?

Yeah, I timed each of my abilities a long time ago when I first started out as a Guardian to shortest cooldown to longest cooldown. I usually open with a strike for aggro/dmg then pop a taunt HO and keep that up throughout the duration of any fight. Usually I don't have a bard or enchanter, so I try to ration my power to minimize downtime when doing instances, I'll throw in some extra hits like Blast and Perfect Strike on boss encounters just to generate some extra threat, and if need be Reinforcement is brilliant.

Oh and I logged in today and was able to click Reversal so now I have it activated, I /cheered irl

CA = combat art

DA = double attack

what he means by timing is that you place x number of combat arts between auto attacks. Download "Advanced Combat Tracker" and install the "double attack" pluggin for it. This will cause the program to play a beep every time you auto attack. That way you can figure out when you are auto attacking and place the correct number of CA's between each auto attack (this maximizes your dps)
