Meh where do i even start...

At idiot no.1: Protection and block% IS uncontested all they changed is +5 Block chance actually means +5% shield effectiveness giving around 1% block depending on the shield used.

For idiot no.2: Every avoidance check uncontested or not is checked against a mobs lvl to yours, if its uncontested(i.e parry%, reposte% and block%) the attack only checks against the lvl difference and not skills as well (i.e mobs offensive skill level). Everything thing else is checked against Lvl and skills.

For idiot no.3: Just dont even bother posting please...what ever it is, just please dont. Go to the trade skill forum and talk about lamp designs.

this has nothing to do with the uncontested riptose/parry adorns(no real way to test since there are no low lvl adorns) but you can clearly see that opponent level plays no factor on shild block still. only shild quality and level of shild according to level of user.

Could have sworn I saw Aeralik post protection is contested in TSO. Oh well. Easy to test though. Nagafen is 100x4... bring a bot or some repair kits and pull away with adornments and without.

Hell, even the 100^^^ guards in FD should give some results.

The other day though I saw (either here or on the official forum) a guy who took a 0 level tank (less than 10) and attacked one of the highest level guards in Nerriak. He actually managed to block a couple strikes with his shield. I am not saying either side is wrong here, but how can you block someone that high a level IF avoidance is contested by level? Just trying to understand this one part of the mechanic. This one was actually a screen shot so there won't be an issue with people thinking cut and paste was doctored.

Well either way we are not saying that block is diminished completely when a mob is 8 levels above you just that it does suffer. So yeah a lvl 1 toon could block an attack from a lvl 80 mob, howevr it would not in anyway reflect the block% given in the persona window.
