Uncontested Riposte chance

I dunno if this was posted before but I was wondering about the riposte on items like "Armguards of the Ya-li shock troops" or "Danak vial essence". is it true that the riposte works like this. You get an extra uncontested chance to parry and if you do parry you risposte 100% of the time on this check. So basically the mastercrafted neck item gives you 2% EXTRA parry chance followed by a riposte if it triggers via this check??

My next question is, do you think it is worth sacrificing lots of raw stats for that extra parry chance on tough named fights?

Yes, they do work that way.

No, it probably isn't worth what you lose.

True on the first part, however uncontested avoid is > all it usually is worth giving up lots of stats. The reason gearing a tank is any difficult is because you have to balance how much defensive + offensive you need.

For instance wrathbringer arms are rediculously good.

Like many other answers, the best one that I think can be given is "it depends." It depends on how high you are on the diminishing returns curve for all your stats and skills and it depends on exactly what you're fighting.

Keep in mind that like with everything else, that additional percentage to avoid is based on an even con unbuffed mob. So a 2% additional riposte chance (which is effectively a 2% extra uncontested chance to parry) scales down as the mob's level increases. How much it actually decreases as the mob's level increases is too complicated to know for sure.

However, like Fonil said, the overall best way to increase your chance to avoid is to increase your uncontested avoidance checks.

Pinski's answer is too generic. It's all relative to exactly what you have and what you're fighting. It could easily vary from zone to zone or even from mob to mob.

I could be wrong but i do Believe that uncontested avoid is why its called "uncontested" you could fight a lvl 100 mob and lets say you have 28 block % and 15% other uncontested avoid you will at a minimum avoid 43% of all incoming attacks

You'd be wrong. Uncontested just means vs. mob skill levels. Level is still taken into account.

I was being sarcastic, i wasn't wrong contested avoid scales to level. Uncontested is exactly that, to be with out question or contest.

You'd be wrong still. Uncontested avoidance scales vs. level of the mob, not vs. skill level of the mob. As in chance to hit.
