I've played a guard on my current server for almost two years, off and on two other servers for a total of five years. Honestly, yes I am one of the priveleged few as Tumor put it. I created my own raiding guild and pushed it through RoK progression, and am about halfway through TSO atm. Are guardians receiving the SoE reach-around atm like crusaders? No. Are we still functional in our role? Yes. I honestly have no problems with aggro when raiding (unless our SK falls asleep and hits Grave Sacrament).

The two things I would like to see changed would be to free up some of the guardian's dependancy on group buffs to maintain agro, and have our Reinforcement brought in line with Grave Sacrament so that it at least rivals it. I love my dps (5-6.5k in sword-and-board, 7-10k in DW), and survivability really isn't an issue either. Honestly, I love tanking trak until I get the hourglass, then popping Recapture and watching the SK get spanked in the 10 seconds I'm on the other side of the orb. Call me sadistic, but sometimes I laugh so hard I can't even speak in vent. O.o

I did create an SK and leveled it up to mid 30's just to see what the hype was all about. Was it fun? Decidedly so. Was it like tanking in easy-mode? For sure. Would I ever ditch my guardian and play a flavor-of-the-month? Fuck no.

Get a cleric that is spec'd steadfast stance. Get some people with AE blockers.

YOS is a much harder zone to tank as a guardian. The king in LC just depends on whether your group can block the AE stifle.

First off, Grave Sacrament is really sorta stupid. If an SK gets hit by a mob, it will increase his threat priority by 1? So if the mob is already attacking him, he gets an increase in threat priority. How incredibly useful. The other case is when he gets AE'd. Great. So the mob's not on him, and he's not on the mob, he can still pull aggro without even doing an AE.

IMO, either make it go off only on physical damage, or make it go off raidwide, but change it to where it will increase the SK's hate position by one if a nonfighter gets hit. Sort of like a temporary raidwide peaceful link except with +1 hate position for the SK instead of -1 hate position for the person getting hit.

Also, lower M1 amends to 35%. Is there really any reason that a paladin needs 41% of the hate generated by a warlock, wizard, ranger, brigand, swash, or assassin? Do they really suck that bad?

no.. everytime the mob is hit by anyone..it increases the sk's threat priority by 1.. atleast i think thats how it currently works, thats why no matter what you do, you cant keep a mob off them if they cast it.

If guards are not broken why do we tank in offensive? Unless you have some serious hate feed you will never maintain agro against a well equiped scout or mage. The entire idea of a tank is to be able to maintain agro with taunts not through dps. I watch the hate meter and I can see a jump when marr lands but it holds steady with any taunts that land. The only taunts that are effective are positional taunts. Check your act on a raid mob, hate generating gear does nothing. 32 swings=32 misses. One of the biggest issues in raids atm is that guards are forced to fill in dps instead of survival to keep agro. I'm not saying it should be pug easy but your main tank determines the raid dps cap atm so why not change taunts to a precentage or positional based combat art?

ACT is not able to measure taunts or gear procs that increase threat unless they are resisted, so you are probably missing a portion of whats going through. Also tell your raid force to debuff the mob more.

Yep, sorry. Should've read the description better. Either way, it's still pretty ridiculous... not only cause they can obviously get to the top of the hate list a lot faster since GS is like a reinforcement where the hate position increases are coming in at least 4 times as fast and you don't have to chase the mob around if an offtank isn't able to hold it, but also because it lasts longer than reinforcement. If the SK's aren't supposed to be tanking, though, they must be mentally retarded if they can't clearly see that spell is going to cause problems.

It's obviously their fault if they touch grave sacrament, but even without touching it, they still have ridiculous aggro. I think SK myth should deaggro 3x their lifetap amount if they're in offensive stance. Makes sense to me, as that will help a tiny bit to stay lower aggro while raiding and not tanking. All I know is that crusaders don't have to put forth any effort to hold aggro, and they can rip aggro off us easily as well. When RoK first came out, I saw a 72 paladin tank 84-85^^^s in a group full of 80s. Don't try that on a guardian! And SK's are just as uber! Fuck crusaders!

I am on the mind set that SK should be nerfed, they are OP when compared to Guards, but all that means is that SOE fucked up in not balancing the classes.

Increase out DPS a little more, and fix our mythical to be a full invulnerability of the detrimentals and we will rock as MTs.
