well, what part do you disagree with? im not claiming to be a big authority, but im looking at a wider picture then some of the people in this thread, looking at strictly mting a raid.

sure I can agree that guardians with crap gear are crap solo.
I can also agree a crap geared guardian in a crap group is the crappiest fighter as a tank too.
But you're forgetting that when we're in kick ass gear, in a kick ass raid we kick some serious ass when it comes to survivability compared to any other fighter.

[edit] come to think about it, the raid force doesn't even have to be kickass.

So basically what your trying to say is, level you guard up, have roll your other tank into raids MT with that toon and loot on your guard until you got good gear, then switch toons? sounds like an awesome plan.

Gear is pretty much the determining factor on how well you can solo as a guard, but obviously an equally gear'd crusader will still solo better if they know what they are doing.

Group is pretty much dependent on group makeup, if the group is You, a healer, brig, warlock, illy, wizzy, then no you prolly won't hold aggro very solid.

Raid, what really matters is survivability and holding aggro, the only person that ever steals aggro is our SK anyways. As far as survivability we have the upper hand in that our survivability skills have fairly short recast, SK's get the fact that Bloodletter is passive and you don't have to know beforehand and have quick reflexes to prevent the death. So on a long fight where there are reoccuring possibilities of death guards win out, in a OH SHIT didn't know that was coming short term situation SK has a bit of an edge.

Ixer you have it all wrong....

Choose the path of least resistance, buy a fully geared raid tank from an auction site. That will save you the years worth of mental stress it takes in getting in to a raid guild that can clear some up to date content, actually getting a MT role, which is limited to a small number of priviliged guards on each server, then the months and years it takes to get the gear to be a DPS machine but at the same time have survivability.

Unfortunatly for the people who do that, they learn that it takes more then gear to be able to MT in a raid, and they quickly lose interest in the Guard.
