Default Best way to spend achievement points?

I hate the fact that so many raid tanks have their achievement screens restricted on EQ2players.com. Grinds has told me this before, but dammit, I accidentally deleted the PM.

Can you please lay out the best class and subclass achievement paths for me to use on my nub guard alt with crappy gear under these two circumstances:

1. Best paths for a guard who plays primarily as a raid MT and

2. Best paths for a guard who plays mostly doing groups and instances.

For #2, could you also comment on whether the non-raid guard would be better off just betraying to zerk (serious question).

Thanks

Str 4/4/8/8, 2nd tree either Int or Agi for the added avoidance of either parry or defense. (really a preference thing here cyclone or haste)

Far as the guard tree Block ftw, and 10% double attack end lines rest is just fill in the blank.

Default Re: Best way to spend achievement points?

I haven't tried that variant myself... what i run as a raid tank is this...

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/c...erId=387021104

That's my Warrior AA, shouldn't be blocked. For me it is a big toss up between AGI / INT and AGI / STA. Getting more defense and parry from the AGI / INT is really nice as well as the increased attack speed. But the buckler line is still nice since as you know bucklers provide less protection. Meaning that on a guardian inflaming defense and ripostes are going to happen more, adding more hate.

But the question is if you dont' need the extra hate why not just go AGI / INT? I've been debating this myself for awhile now having been in both aa lines. If anyone else could provide some advice i'd really like it

And I'm not trying to brag, but i've tanked FTH, Chel, up to mayong in MMIS, and have killed mistress of the veil, sarik the fang, and thirneg in EH with the AGI / INT setup.... ( granted saying what i can go up against may be moot since people are killing wuoshi)

As far as Guardian aa's go, let me think.

-- Extreme right side-- Command / Wall of Force / Stone Sphere / tower of stone all 5 points
unyielding vigilance 2 points, plant 3 points, and block 1 point

left side --intercede 2 / sustain 3 / Vindicative Strike 5 / rescue 5 / reinforcement 5
then i migth have put moderate at 4

Honestly Berzerker or Guardian if you're wanting to do heroic are equally fine. Myself being a guardian for 70 levels and then some, i'm biased with the group stone sphere, the reinforcement + besiege for a nice aoe aggro gain, then you got sustain and moderate for some protection when the aggro goes a bit wild....

then again zerkers have their insolent gibe, and anything else they got....

Anyway that's my two cents, hope it helps you out.

AA's are all a matter of what you intend to do.

I built my character to have the most survivability.

My Current Raid MT spec:
Warrior-

Guardian-

INT is good, if your not capping your parry. I, however, cap parry with defensive MT buffs. Defense this expac is also pretty easy to maintain near cap with our buff.

Even with the entire survivability spec, you need to consider agro. Cause being hard to kill doesnt matter if the mob doesnt target you. Dragoon cyclone i've noticed helps with AE agro a bit. As does the crit/hate gain AA's

If I ever manage to get a clearcutter. I think i'll respec to an STR/AGI/INT or something like that spec. Which will provide better agro, at the cost of survivability. Mostly because i'm nearing that peak where I having a more difficult time upgrading my character, so its time to start balancing in another direction.

Ahh getting back into my Guradian this is nice to know... I wanted the Dragoon title and liked the abilitys from day one KOS, 100% parry; so I was hopeing this wasn't gonna gimp me for MT possibilitys.

As far as the 10% dbl attack in EOF I was thining about paring this up with Sta line but does it actualy stack w/ Gladiator line? I think paring up Defence w/ DPS makes for some of the meanest tanks around. My Brig faired very well in every Heroic instance like this and some T-6 mobs I am hoping My Guaridan can keep aggro form the ninja dps hitters. You know the ones that drop Decap on the pull :P

I'm glad someone started this thread going. Its interesting to see what you guys did with your AA selection, and i think grinds had some excellent choices. Also i think some other information would be useful to us. For example, whats your avoid, mit, and hp self buffed?

when eof came out and they changed the miti curve i was happy to be able to give up my gaymore legendary belt, and LC rings. with that my mitigation when down (obviously) but my stats went up considerably. I figured just dropping this mitigation put me in the sweetspot range, and decided to keep the mitigation on the wis line. unfortunately i dont really have lots of time to test how much this mitigation actually helps vs raid mobs (when im raid buffed too). it also looks like the poster before you considered it worth keeping.. but perhaps it isn't.

even if the 300 miti helps decrease auto attack and CA dmg from the mobs by 1% or so, im not sure that would help me a whole lot. 95% of the time i die because of spike damage relating to some mob ability (resistance based), the encounter design, or loss of debuffs. If im thinking this way, maybe it would be better to pick up the end ability on the agi line, as it would help me out in the rare circumstances of spike dmg.

for referance, self buffed im at 9787 hp, 8232 avoid, and 5025 miti. havn't gotten much guard gear to drop yet unfortunately

My EoF AAs are pretty standard like everyone else here is saying going down to get block and double attack with branching off to get 5 points in reinforcement.

For KoS atm I am 4 4 8 8 in str and 4 4 7 8 2 in int. That little extra reuse and recovery seems nice since I really only dropped 1 point out of the haste. I may play around with it more when I get Mayongs hammer. I use Planar Axe now anyhow so that haste buff I dont use so those 4 points are wasted. With a Dirge I hit the parry cap easily and defense is capped solo now from 3 piece bonus on the class set and our self buff and defensive stance. I may try the buckler line again when I get that hammer along with str and see what happens with that. Parry does seem nice but the 75 epics the parry's are far less anyhow until massive debuffs get in and by that point mobs are a joke anyhow.

They stack fine. They also stack with the mayong hammer, and you can get to 98% double attack.

10.8k~ hps with food/drink, no potion. Mitigation is 59%~ solo. Avoidance is 9800~ or 65%~ solo.

Defensively raid buffed, i'm at 15.6k~ hps (w/o potion) 62% mit and 72% avoidance (yes, monks hate me).

Spike damage is a pita, but thru the use of Block, ToS, Dragoon reflexes and Cold-forged bp. They should be some-what mitigatable.

oh, one quick question about dragoon cyclone. will that break mez on stuff within melee range that you don't have targeted? It sounds sorta like an open wounds type skill (obviously it doesn't go off as much), and open wounds did break mez. Id have to reconsider getting it if it does break mez.
