yea that's what SoE needs to decided eiter give guard the same agro tools the other tanks have or make guard longevity above and beyond all the other plate tanks.

ok, now that the nastiness is behind us

how about replacing armored's increased effectiveness to worn armor into a 5% reduction to all damage (when mastered), increasing the frequency of wrath of warloard to 3.4 times a min, and increasing its damage proc by 50%; and adding a gain of 1 hate position onto sentinel strike?

I can only think of 3 things I'd like to see improved or un-nerfed, go back to the slightly higher melee attack multiplier, a longer range on the Dragoons auto attack ae and a proc on the mythical that actually matters in raids.

From what i've seen is dps is a nonissue next expansion. it'll be all taunts/defensive stance to hold aggro. Can anyone confirm ?

Have said this plenty of times and will say it again. Guards are and always have been defensive tanks, specialists of one-on-one combat.

They have ruined the game pretty much by making every class eagre to see his/her parse after end of each fight. Utter nonsense imo, i don't care if i do 1k dps but what i want is to hold aggro properly, survive and let the dps classes kill the mob. The way it is meant to be.

Enough of this incongruous dps notion.

i dont like the defensive most tank in the game having 1 offensive ability that uses a shield, and using two weapons instead of a shield the vast majority of the time. there should be more offensive abillities that use a shield, they should have a significant amount of threat to them, making the shield preferred for threat and for tanking; while dwing being there to raise your dps to raise the group wide dps when you arent having trouble with aggro and the healer(s) can keep you up.

Personally I think it can be the following, without affecting game mechanics.


Have different Gear sets. One set that is more defensive than the other, but has nice Hate Modifiers. Another set that, offers dps.

This is what I have been doing, and I really enjoy my class. My bags are full of gear. I use hot keys to swap them out, before each encounter. (trash - full dps, easy names I typically go full dps, hard mobs - full def gear except a dps or two to maintain agro, and very hard mobs - Go Full defensive gear, and warn others to watch their agro)

I'll duel wield on trash, and easy names. I really enjoy this, and it gives me a chance to do well on the parse. So i get to have fun.

On the harder mobs, sure my dps stinks, but the raid survives, and I can still survive the harder name. The best glory here is to survive. Killig the hard mobs is fun too.

So the way i see it, I enjoy killing the trash cause I can dps. I enjoy killing the names cause I can survive. Just swap your gear (via a single click) between each encounter and now you can enjoy all parts of the game.

I know my post here is going to draw the ire of a few but here goes.

Backstory:
I created my monk years ago, pre DOF. He has been my main for a long long time. Fast forward to now.

I created a Paladin because it looked as if my guild needed an OT and the monk no matter how well played could not OT AE encounters. Holy cow, easy mode tank. We got a different OT, I went back to Kinz.

Then our MT had to go. I started doing MT on monk. He tanked everything minus Ykesha , Munzok, and MPS in hard mode easy enough. BUT... I knew an expansion was coming and my monk , much as I love him is not a good raid MT untill he has gear from that content. I needed a MT for my guild so I re-upped my wife's account and betrayed her zerker to guard. I at first couldnt believe what I was experiencing. Both my other tanks I didnt give a care what classes were in group. I could hold aggro, just some groups meant more work ( on the monk anyway ). Guard, man I needed hate transfers, buffs, something.... Yes it got better with gear and a specific AA build but was a real eye opener for me. The monk has better snaps, more emergency OH SHITS vs death touches, etc.

Having 3 80 tanks Guard, Monk, Pally, Yes... Guard needs more. Also shittiest mythical of the 3. I think that any single target hate boost we can get would be huge along with a usefull myth. Nothing overpowered, but come on, put us as guards on par and not so dependant on others.
