Default DPS or lack thereof

I see your parses of 8k+, and it got me interested in my parses. OoA the other night ~2400. I read that auto attack should be roughly 60% of your DPS. So, I went to the training dummy, and proceeded to just hit auto attack duel-wield and single with my shield.

Dual Wield AA - ~1000 DPS
Single Wield with Shield AA - ~850 DPS

So, dual wield I should expect ~1400'ish DPS using CA's
Single wield ~1200 ?

That seems ridiculously low.

My primary weapon is my myth, and the fabled sword from NHT is my secondary, since it has exactly 2x the delay of the myth.

Stat-wise:
Crit = 65
DA = 41
ATK = 1890

STR = 789

Haste Mod from Profit = 58
DPS Mod from Profit = 15

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TBH, the fabled sword from NHT is not going to help your DPS a huge amount, the top end on it is not that high to waste with the 6 second delay. Your better off with the Nathsar shortsword from COA (old COA). But you can pick up some decent 3.0's from WOE, emperor atrebes. Also timing your Auto attacks is huge.

Adorning your jewlery and ranged slot with +12DPS mod adornments help, other then that pick up some more DA And melee crit. your crit is fairly low to be hitting to high.

While I don't have much experience with guardian DPS, I'll suggest you be careful that you're not comparing raid parses with non-raid parses. Group and raid buffs can *significantly* affect your DPS.

To illustrate the point, my illusionist parses:
- 2k-3k solo (training dummy, it's been a bit since I parsed this)
- 3k-5k group (depending on group members)
- 4k-8k raid (depending on raid members, mobs, etc.)

As you can see, it's really hard to compare solo vs. group vs. raid parses. However, in general, anything you do to improve your solo parse should also improve your raid parse.

a side from dual wielding, and tanking in offensive stance, and stacking melee crit, da, and proc gear; you can increase you dps very significantly by group make-up. brigands increase dps alot, both bards will too. illusionists can buff your dps too, ect.

sure dps is important and you should try to get your stats(crit/da/dps/haste/str) as high as you possible can, you still going to be biended to that dirge/coercer group as a guard for the most part you're just not going to put out enough dps to negate hate buffs the way offensive tanks/pallys can. btw guard dps is highly dependent on group/raid dps ie. group dps is 50k you might see 10k on a guard or something. guard does not have any real offensive abillitys that let the class blow up a parse regularly.

The 55-60% AA in dps make-up in posted parses is because of buffs. When you're parsing solo on a training dummy, expect your autoattack to be 25-30% of your dps.

Your numbers are a little off. Assuming these numbers are 60% of what would be your total damage if you had used CA's, then you would be at

Dual Wield AA - 1666 DPS
Single Wield with Shield AA - 1416 DPS

.. with CA's.

But keep in mind that your CA's will help your overall DPS significantly including your auto attack damage (Obliterate, Accel Strike, etc.)
