Re: Rescues and such
I use rescue on pull all the time. I can hit a mob for 4-6k on pull with a bow, and it won't care. They sometimes even shrug off rescue.
Aggro is also worst at the beginning of the fight when dispatch, hostage, etc. is going in. I rarely lose aggro deep into the fight, and I don't even have Trak's shield. Rescue is only going to hold off a great parser a second or two. You're either holding aggro off them, or you're not. When you're talking about 1-6 minute fights, even reinforcement isn't going to do you much good if you can't keep up with your dps.
Also, losing aggro may very well mean a wipe. I don't see the point in waiting for the thing to bolt over towards the raid. It'll probably be out of range until it stops to pound on people, and by then, it could be too late. One range-based AE can put 25-75% of the raid on the ground.
I establish aggro solidly and then let them worry about themselves. If they have to use a Trakanon's Gaze macro, then that's what they have to do. What I try to make sure of is that any loss of aggro isn't my fault.
