Halfling. Racial pickpocket + Track > all. Although you're going to spend a lot of money on foot odor products.

I would say it doesnt matter until end game which race you choose. Even at end game its not a major issue but it can be the difference in a few hundred hps out of 15-20000. I dont know what the highest HP is anymore but when I quit I believe 15k was about what most raid tanks had. I personally played a ratonga and tanked every mob in the game with success.

I also heard a rumor that they were changing racial traits because at end game some traits made a big difference. I dont know if this ever happened however. Those few hundred HPs dont seem like much but can sometimes save a raid from a wipe.

lol I hope that was your attempt at sarcasm, no race will make any difference for end game play.

Pick the race you enjoy and have fun, I waited 3+ years to not be a frog due to the hop, thats the only reason.

Its not sarcasm at all. It does make a difference albiet a small one but there is a difference. For most people race will not affect you in any way but for a MT of a top raid guild I assure you race does make a difference, at least in my personal experience which is rather extensive in EQ2.

I have played a tank class from day 1, and have played noob style to hardcore and having a freedom of mind ability on a 4 to 5 minute recast will not make or break tanking.

Honeslty even if you pick one of the smaller classes, dwarf, ratonga, gnome and you are worried about group members seeing you there is a class fun spell called form of the rook which makes you a big black east LA thug. And Int for the taunts

I never mentioned anything about a freedom of mind ability or any other ability for that matter. I only stated it could be the difference in a few hundred HPs which could make for a wipe or a successful raid. It is a small factor but a factor none the less.

But whatever man you obviously have your own opinion being that you have played a "tank class" since day 1 from noob to hardcore. More HP = more survivability. Fact.
The only thing that could change this is if the NPC hits you for a % of your total HPs in which case HP means nothing.

Either way I really could care less as I have stated several times this is MY opinion based on MY experience and you can take it or leave it. I'm done trying to explain this simple fact to you.

Oh and I also stated that I did play a ratonga guardian which does not have this HP bonus and was successful. So, yes I agree you do not have to be a specific race to be a MT of a successful guild but every little bit helps. I hope that explains my point a little more clearly and if not then God help you because you are doomed for life.
